Martial arts

Does anyone here take a martial art? If you do, what style is it? What rank are you? Do you enjoy the classes? How long have you been doing it?

When I was 12 I started developing my own style because I had a lot of social problems to fix and needed to be able to defend myself against my bullies, especially because my father refused to let me sign up for a real martial art. It was originally called The BB of C but is now more commonly reffered to as Cannon Style. To this day, the fundimentals remain the same, but the style has developed so much just in the past 4 years that it's rediculous.
One day, during training, last summer, my father sees that I'm interested in the martial arts and agrees to sign me up if I still want to do it. At first I didn't even want to start at this point because I had come so far on my own. Then I remembered that I was slow and inflexible, and my older brother (for some stupid reason) wouldn't teach me the secret to kicking really good. So, last December, I started checking out martial arts schools in my area. There was a really good one that my friend Joe went to for nine years before he moved too far away from it. I couldn't find it and it was way far away from my house. Then I checked out a Tae Kwon Do school. I didn't like that they wore all of those pads and protection. That and I knew I could beat up the highest rank presant at the class I was observing, so I didn't think I'd get anything out of it.

The final school I checked out is called Kuk Sool Won, the official martial art of Korea. My older brother went there for a few months. I started going there. I don't like the way they teach very much and I still find my forms and teaching methods more applicable to street fighting, but the workout I get from going there twice a week is making me faster and more flexible just like I needed. I am still a white belt there. But that's only because I've missed quite a few classes for one reason or the other. If I stayed on track with perfect attendance I'd be a blue belt right now.
