Fidel Castro

Postby MY85 » Wed Aug 02, 2006 1:01 am

So... has anyone paid attention to the recent news involving Fidel Castro, the Cuba dictator... I mean, president? Well... lately, he had health problems and gave up his powers to his brother, Raúl Castro.

I don't know how mcuh he'll last in the power, but his time is coming soon...

Anyways, you can speak your thoughts about Fidel and if possible, get this thread living...

And as for the poll... that's a question that has been around for years.

Meh. He wasn't even a good evil dictator. He was like the diet coke of evil. Just one calorie, not even enough. Meh. I could care less

Hmm, I always percieved Castro as a relatively caring, benovelent dictator, which humanises him in my eyes.

Did you watch on the news all the Cubans in Miami that were celebrating because of this? I personally know 2 Cubans and they both say the same thing, "Life in Cuba isn't really life".

I read in the paper that Cuba escapees were doing the Conga at 3 AM when they heard about the whole health problem thing.

I personally don't know much about him, soooo...

Personally, I've always thought that Castro had a bunch of clones frozen in stasis beneath his capitol, but that's probably just me being paranoid...

He *is* like the Diet Coke of evil... I'm not informed enough about the matter to know if this is a good thing or not. The people really don't seem to know either; I've heard about the conga-ing, but I've also heard that people are worried about health care and stuff like that.

It is people like Fidel Castro that give communism a bad name. There are kids who make fun of me because I support my country's communist party (just showing a little sense of nationalism, however, I'm not willing to get blown up or anything like that), and none of this would happen if dictators like Stalin or Castro didn't exist. Of course, if they didn't exist, America might become socialist...

Anyhow, I don't know what Castro is like. He has been president for too long, however. I feel sorry for Castro because he's about to die, but I feel happy for the people since they all seem to hate him so much.

Communism isn't a bad system; it's just very hard for humans to actually carry it out without dictatorship messes. From what I've heard, China handles it very well.

...my friend Jared says that communism would be the perfect system if the Pope was in charge. O_o

I support the ideas of Marxisim, which is, in effect, "True Communisim." However, it's impractical because somebody always takes point and starts bossing everyone else around.

Still, I dislike Fidel because he was involved in the Cuban missle crisis.

I don't know much about communism. But I've learned a few things about life in Cuba. For example, I know a guy that refused to go to a manifestation against the United States, that was leaded by Castro. For this, he ended up in jail. Liberty of expression is not a right in Cuba.

That's just one of the many reasons why Cubans hate Fidel.

Another one in mind: you're limited to have a certain number of stuff (like only having maximum 2 pair of shoes, stuff like that). Everyone has to be equal. Also, poberty in Cuba is a reason why many leave that country (some get paid $10 a month).

I don't know but they say Raul is worse. But as for now, things are pretty much the same in Cuba, or so I keep hearing.

Also it seems Fidel is getting better and he had a small celebration of his birthday.
