As for as I know, It is used as an insult, or just to replace the word "Stupid". I use it because it's now a reflex. I say it everytime I don't like something.

The actual term Gay used to mean happy many years ago..but now the use of it and the meaning have completely changed. I wish the word would not be used at all, as an insult or otherwise.

Let's say... "this thread is stupid". It could offend the author of the thread. We can also say "this thread is gay" (no pun intended), which could also offend the author of the thread.

I agree. I"m not gay, but I have friends who are, and it makes me so mad. It's the same thing when people say 'that's retarded'. Nobody thinks that some people may see it as an insult.

Really though. People can -say- it just means 'stupid' but think about it for a minute. What does it say about people's subconscious thinking, linking that idea and the word together? My English teacher was talking about this one day. She's like what are you trying to say? That's happy? That's homosexual? Why don't you just say that?

And still I can't go through a whole day without hearing it at least 15 times. I'm like WTF.
