Are mods being too harsh?

Postby jayde_child » Mon Nov 20, 2006 2:44 am

I do not mean to offend any of the mods, but I just want to see other peoples' opinions.

I know that it is their job, but I was just thinking about it today.

I also had the courage to put up this thread and mods, please do not get mad at peoples opinions.

Have you ever thought that they never gave your thread a chance? I might get banned for this....

No offense taken, at least to me. But you're asking if we're too harsh? *blinks* Do you happen to have anything offhand to support this? I'm not trying to chide you or anything, I'm honestly asking ^^;

It's our job to lock threads, move threads, and keep this place in line. Duplicate threads need to be closed down, mostly to keep discussion focused and, in the long run, easier to find. Same for moving threads. Members are often given little warnings here and there to keep the forums clean and, in certain instances, to keep things from sparking up between people.

If anyone ever does have a problem with any mod, I personally think the best thing to do is to take it up with them, preferably through PM, in a calm way. But that's just my opinion, other mods may disagree with me ^^;

I am sorry if anyone thinks I, or any of the others, have been too harsh. But we are just trying to do our job in the long run, to make the forum experience better for you guys.

I don't think they're too harsh. Of course, they've never done anything to ME that would make me feel that.

o.O; *scratches head and wonders what the point of this thread is*

I treat everyone the same here, really. I kind of phase out everyone's status bar, so to speak. I've never had a problem with the mods here, 'cause they do a great job. (Plus I love not singling people out. x3 Hence why I always seem to post in one personality)

'Sides, an old forum I went to WORSHIPPED the mods. The mods were more prissy than a princess in a NCE removal clinic.

...

That made absolutely no sense. *puts line through it on similie list*

Mods are only there to help you. They are just normal members with the only power to shape the forum and enforce the rules.

This is only your opinion, you wouldn't get kicked out of the wonderful forum if you just post your own opinion right? Aren't forums just to post opinions?

I don't know why you think the mods are being harsh. It might seem a little rude if one of your threads gets locked, but I think that's better than it being ignored...
The mods are here to do their job, and they do a really good job with it. Just imagine what it might be like if there were no mods here, or if they never did that much...

Well I do not feel that the mods are harsh. But...as "Tom Bone" said I haven't really done anything bad....at least I hope not. Of course I may get a little annoyed of them from time to time. (Which was ONCE) But it's their Job. I stick with this motto-(Made up one mind you, my dad ALWAYS said that.)

"One who respects the leader shall pay no price."

But anyhow I do not think their Harsh at all. Sometimes annoying but not Harsh. (>.> I'll get killed for that.... :D) I even had a dream where a mod died...^_^;

Anyone who thinks the mods are harsh?

(Besides I can put up with mods. The ones on the offical forum I REALLY want to tell off. I should go on there and do it...(without my account :P Not really though. I WISH but my butt might be mounted on their wall if I say what I REALLY want too.)
Currently, you will not see me in Forums any longer. I will be on chat though. ^.~

I don't have a problem with the mods, I mod an American Dragon site so I know how it feels. They all seem very nice to me and I think they've done a very good job so far.

I really have to agree. I took a job moderating liuttle kids over the summer, and boy, it was hard! I never wanted to di it again, but I just loved helping out.

And with thewave of new people coming so often now, and people more aware of CL more than ever, we will need to tighten up with stuff. And yes, eventually there will be a time when there a very few threads made, but when a thread raches page 41, it'd one, and a new one is made.

Sure, I've gotten into quite a lot of fights with the mods, and yes, I do sometimes wish I could help them out better. And i do try, but you've also got to understand that the moderators are there to help you, there the ones who have the power to brezak up a fighjt, to keep the peace, and overall keep this place fun.
Would it really be fun if you were searching though hundreds of misplaced threads in games about the NDS game coing out just to have a nice friendly competition with your firends?

I don't think the mods are harsh. Moving, deleting, or locking a thread is not being harsh. Their just doing their job to keep things in order and so we can have a great time on here. Think about it, the mods have made sure that no n00b will come in and suck all the fun away with their leet speak, and spamming up the place. If it wasn't for them this place would be crawling with non-english speaking members. That would suck major.

But I can see your point in making this thread. Yes when I first joined here I thought the mods were harsh and that I wouldn't have much fun here. But in the end I've learned that their just doing their job to make this a great place. Being a mod is a tough job.

I notice ypu only have at this time 116 posts. And to be honest, that's not reallly much time to really get to know the mods.

IE:

TB3 has always been a good firned. And i was happy when I saw a fellow LF go off to be a mod. He's like a brother to me. But now he's like a brother with superpowers to me! But that still doesn't matter, coz he'll allways be a close friend

(And No, TB3, that does NOT mean I am going to Marry your brother. Sorry TL.)

Rodri's allways been there too. And also a good person to talk to. And in BKO, he also knows how to have a good time, and stir up the parties! Sure, we get into a lot of fights, and sure, sometimes I wish he'd just suck it up and change his name back to rodri, coz I always for get who's who now, but I know he's allways there ready to break up a fight, or warn a new budding member that they need to get their spelling right, so they don't get into trouble.

Same goes for X1! Sure, he's allways changing names, and sure, I've allways been able to get on his bad side, but all the same I always feel like he's out there watching us all. And let me tell you, being the moderator for BKO, and being the only one at that is no easy task. It takes a LOT of hard work, and to be truthful, Moderating!

MewB has done a wonderful job making sure to keep topics on track and clean, and to stop an out of control fight. But she's like an adopted mother to the forum really. And she does all she can do to keep a member posting clean, or to make sure a topic stays that way, and not a pile of trash.

And CBI, of course, is the latest member. So, let me ask you this, What kind of mod do you think she'll turn out to be, eh? A nice one, one who abuses their power, or one who rules the forums with a thick iron fist jammed unto your back so you'll play nice. You know what? I don't know. But no matter what, I know she'll be a great mod. Most likely not the last two, but still a great mod.
And And... I think I forgot someone...

She makes good point #1 T33BS FOREVER! XD.

Rodri's cool... He does act "high" sometimes though :P lol point #2

X1 certainly is lol... point #3

Mew is like a guardian angel... :angel10: point#4

CBI is very active, and I've seen no instances where she abuses her power, so it's all good. point#5 (not saying you said she did)

In conclusion, all the moderators have different personalities because they are people. Don't expect them to be robocops.

Beside it all, Angelbolt worded things just right ;)

And I don't think they're being harsh at all. Getting mad over a locked topic isn't going to help. In my early days, I spammed alot as some of us may remember. :*D

You should REALLY get to know them all.

Mods have to deal with spammers, abusive members, an armada of n00bs who don't follow basic rules, locking threads all over the place and so on. Don't think they're picking on you because you're most likely not a huge issue the mods are dealing with.

No, you wont get banned for speaking your mind as long as you're not picking people out and being vulgar. So don't worry ;)

Well, they can get a little ridiculous sometimes, and they tell people to like use correct grammar [ahem x1 (sorry, i cant call you by anything else)] and correct spelling... but I guess it's just to make this forum look good, because this is one of the most clean forums I've ever seen, and I enjoy being a part of it. So obviously the mods are doing an incredible job, because this forum is kept up well.

I can't complain... they've never banned me yet... well, besides just once, but... yeah. I've probably said many things and annoyed a lot of people on here, but I haven't been banned yet, and so I am glad that the mods can tolerate me... if not respect me.

The only mods I really know of are TB3 and x1... I don't know how many others there are... oh Rodri too... but I haven't seen him around lately. Maybe I should like... look the mods up.

But for the most part, I like x1 and TB3, I'm not sure if they like me, but I think they are great to this forum, and just overall good people who don't take any crap. I don't think Rodri likes me too much... but that's because we were never nice to eachother. But I don't really care anymore, it used to bother me, but if he doesn't like me, he doesn't like me.

Anyways, just saying that I don't think the mods are harsh AT ALL. I mean, yeah they want correct spelling and stuff, but that is for everyone's benefit. Plus, you can learn something from them, they are very smart.
