Your thoughts on the afterlife and supernatural?

Postby Gauntlet » Mon Mar 26, 2007 1:15 pm

You know, I'm really shocked no one has made a thread like this lately.

People, what are you thoughts on the afterlife? The supernatural? Do you believe in ghosts? Psychics and other professions that require them to be knee-deep in ghostly ectoplasm?

A long time ago, I used to visit this energy healer of sorts. We went down there for my brother, we needed to clear some allergies for him. It was actually quite funny; she couldn't really help Chris (my brother), but she knew what he ate last night. I assumed she smelled his breath, but I couldn't smell it. Oh well.

Around that time, also, I believe there was a ghost in my room. I'd be sitting on my chair, reclining a bit, when I'd feel someone breath on my neck. It was like a quick gust of air, kinda tickled actually. It must have happened four times before the energy healer came up with a plan, and it stopped after she worked on it.

Enough about me. I've given you all enough information for you to blackmail me. Now, tell me about yourself. Past experiences, beliefs, fears, or whatever you want to say.

I do believe that there is life after death.

As far as ghosts, heck yeah, there are a few very haunted places here in Louisiana that I could go ghost hunting with very good results. St. Francisville...and also we have the Myrtle Plantation..two of the most haunted plantations here in my state.

Psychics...well..it depends on which psychic...some are better than others.

There are plenty of supernatural things that happen down here that I cant explain even if I tried.

...This will be difficult.

Well, I don't believe in ghosts, but I do believe in spirits. (AKA demons, or occasionally angels)
I guess I sort of believe in psychics (sp?) but only in the sense that they can somehow know what might happen. The only reason I believe in them is because I am kind of psychic, I keep having feelings, or something like that, and from what I can remember, they always come true (it's a confusing thing, and I could go for a while about this but I won't)
As for magic, most of the time I think it's demonic. In fact I think a lot of "supernatural" things are either demonic or just natural.
I believe in heaven, and God (but most of you already know that)
I could go into a lot about mythological creatures, but it would take way to long, and I don't think it fits here.

I have a story I think I'll share here that fits very well.I'm not sure if I've told this before but this is how it goes...

One night about six or seven years ago I think, I woke up in the middle of the night, and I didn't know why, when I rolled over and I looked at the door there was a figure there, he (I say he because I could tell he was male) was leaning against the side of the door watching me. I couldn't see his face, nor much of his figures, because from either above him or behind him there was a golden light. All I could see was he had short golden hair. I was scared (wouldn't you be?) so I just rolled over again, and acted like I was asleep, and the next thing I know, it's morning and he's gone. and I never saw him again.

That's an interesting theory, about spirits. I have a different outlook and perspective on the situation. No, I don't want to have an argument or debate, but I just want to state it since you brought it up.

I do believe in spirits, but I'm not particularly fond of angels and demons. I think that, if God doesn't intervene, to let a person's true colors shine, angels probably follow that law. Demons, despite having no "real law" to abide to, are unable to intervene in our lives too.

I believe the extraordinary evil that plagues some peoples lives, and the beautiful love are both factored by people around you, and spirits to an extent. Around a few years ago, we had head dresser from my grandmother (the crazy one), and the door handle would rattle occasionally, we'd here some knockings, someone would knock on the windows. It was pretty freaky, but after we trashed the dresser (because it was old, I don't think my parents caught on about it until later), it was reduced significantly, but we still have some occasional anonymous knocker.

If I remember correctly, she also played with an oujia board, or so my mother told me. I think the worst things that happen to people aren't from demons, but from sick people, in this life and the next.

It's kind of funny that you mentioned that. A while ago, I was reading up on shamanism and catholicism, and they made a particularly interesting note. The Bible says that those who turn towards the afterlife for advice, the future, and strength are turning on God. There's also probably a reason why oujia boards work in the worst sense possible.

That actually sounds pretty nice. I'd be pretty scared if I saw that as well. Unfortunately, I don't think I've ever had any miraculous happen to me. I've had something breath on my neck, in a very soft way, but I've never seen anyone or anything.

It does make me a bit curious, but it's not particularly interesting. That does sound like a nice thing to see, PF.

I believe in ghosts. I have yet to see one, but that means nothing. As we know very well..
Seeing isn't always believing....
I'm not sure about the afterlife. I am Wiccan, but I tend to also keep my own idea's about things as well. I do not believe in a heaven or hell, however. I believe that we are reincartated into something else. Don't ask me what. WIcca is like Christainity: too many branches, each one with it's own idea. o.O
So, obvously, I believe in many things that other's would think I"m crazy for. Oh well. I'll believe what I believe in.

I assumed if we weren't crazy, things wouldn't be very fun :nyeh!:

I'd be glad to have a final resting place, though. It doesn't sound too fun to be resurrected as a ladybug, then get squished some future serial killer as a kid, lol. I wouldn't want to haunt the living or just live on earth for the rest of my eternity, so I've just got one thing to say on my deathbed:

Beam me up, Scotty!

Well, i hav ehad more than one theory about those type of things. I really dont think there is any pyschics, to me humans were not meant to know everything. I do think there are ghosts and as Potterfreak stated, spirits. There must be an after life i am not quite sure of it though but i think there has to be one. I know im being too detailed like i should be but its sorta hard in explaining it sorry haha.
But magic, which i am a strong beleiver in (as in i know its there dont actually attempt it)

I'm a strong believer in the afterlife, particularlly because the thought of an atheist-death scares the holy heck out of me. The topic of what happens beyond our demise is a fear that can consume you if you dwell on it, which is why I suffice people feel so strongly about their religous beliefs. The fear of death is the one that clings to everyone.

Frankly I'm certain there is a heaven and a hell. Where I lay in my eternity.... Well I'm aiming for Heaven, obviously, but I have several friends I consider very dear to me that due to their religon/sexuality wouldn't get in with out apologizing... And well I say F-that. If their going to be stuck in hell, I won't be able to enjoy Heaven with out them.

That being said there is two things I hope to do after I die. 1. is that when I'm dead I want to comfortably say I lived a life with no regrets and am perfectly satisfied. 2. I'm going hug God (That scene from Dogma where Bartelbi breaks down crying, hugging Her, always is a tear-jerker for me.)

But Heaven or Hell, I don't care just so long as I exist. I don't understand the concept of fearing Hell or the devil for that matter. First off I'm a good person who trys to be a good person because I want to be and no other reason but. Secondly, throw the best torture at me for all eternity it would never be able to break me because I'm all ready dead!

I think the spirit is nothing more than the electrical impulse that fuels a body. once it leaves, it's deposited back to the fourth dimention, where it's recycled.

So, would it in fact be possible to talk to ightning?

Necropost...

Anyway, From my username an dmy posts on previous threads, you can probably guess my thougths on the afterlife.
There are two paths to the spiritual realm, one through God and another through Satan. Psychics and mediums Use the latter. All I'm gonna say.

I don't really believe in an "afterlife," but then again what can anyone say about it? It's not like they've died and experienced it. When you die, you're just. Well. Dead. I wouldn't be totally against reincarnation, though. It would kind of suck to be a bug.

I do believe in 'psychic phenomena,' as it were, however. I think there's strong evidence supporting it (even things I've experienced myself) and it's convinced me. It would hard to convince me otherwise now. Pretty much anything's possible, you know. And you can't really say what isn't. Not that long ago, us being able to communicate like this would've been thought impossible.

Ghosts....... don't believe in them, although I'm not saying there's no way a person's mind/soul could be detatched from their body. It kind of gets grouped with the no afterlife thing. :/

Sooooooooo yeah~.

Yeah, us Lousianians know what haunted is. ;)

Well, I don't believe psychic /spirit realm stuff, but I do believe in some 5th dimension/mental plane that we haven't consciously discovered yet. ^^; And ghosts? I do, to a certain point.
