Your haunted areas

Alright, virtually every state, town, or whatever, has it's local haunted areas. If there's one you know about, discuss it here. In my humble town, the old Lincoln Academy is one of them. I've been there tons of times with friends. The story is, it was the only private school for black kids, and this black girl got raped, murdered, and barb wired to a tree. Klansmen burned down the school. Only bits and pieces still remain. The graveyard is ALWAYS-always-freezing cold, even in the summer. I've gotten photos of orbs. Once, I saw a mist or fog that had some sort of human shape to it. Scared the living crap outta me.

Edit: Made a typo.

Up in St. Francisville, we have the Myrtles. In fact, I'm planning to go there this Halloween. On that note, I went to the 13 Gates last Friday. Meh, it was okay. Except for the very end there was a long hall with a bunch of mummies and you didn't know which were real people. As it turns out, I ask a guy at the end and he says that none of them were. :*D But I was more afraid of my Mom than anything, 'cause every time something popped out she'd scream, get behind or infront of me, and in the process run me into a wall.

My school was founded in the early 1900's and it used to have a balcony (easy to access by students) on the third or fourth floor. Some decades later, a manically depressed cheerleader went to the balcony, slit her wrists, and then jumped off. This is something that actually happened and is documented in the school's history. To prevent such an incident from happening again, the faculty blocked off the hall to the balcony with cement and plaster. These days, you can't even tell where it was.

But the thing is, everyone "knows" the cheerleader's ghost haunts the school. Some people (even teachers) have mentioned lights flickering on and off at very high speeds when they drive past the school at night. And one of the custodians says he can hear screaming like a falling girl when he mops the floors on the fourth floor after hours. The most interesting part is that in a group photo of one of the classes (senior, I think) taken in the 1950's, there is the blurry figure of a girl standing among them, and she was not there when the picture was taken. This is true.
