Another one of my boring threads that has good information

I have written this to help everyone throw off the shackles of censorship and do what you want on your computer, or family computer without anybody questioning you. I use this to keep any non-mainstream information hidden so it looks like I am normal, or at least partially.

Let me first go into file encryption. With this you will be able to hide any file with full confidence that you will not be caught. A great piece of software to do this it TrueCrypt (www.truecrypt.org). You can install it, hide it in some system folder and remember where you put it. Or make a batch file which you can call from the command prompt, but that might be a little complicated to explain. Once you install it you need to make a file to act as the space to hold your stuff. You need to estimate the size you need because it can not be expanded, but not to big or it might attract attention. Name it something inconspicuous like winmanage or syscheck. Then put a nice long password on it, do not write it down anywhere just remember it(A favorite qoute can be a good password). Now anytime you want to put something away just open TrueCrypt and mount that file.

Setting up a browser that doesn't remember your history, or passwords is a good thing to have.

First download Firefox (www.getfirefox.com)
Installing it to the TrueCrypt drive is a good idea.
Once installed go to tools, options..., Privacy.
Set history to 0 days.
Uncheck "Save Form Information"
Uncheck "Remeber Passwords"
Under Download Manager History select "Upon Succesful Download" or "When Firefox Exits"
Under Cookies set Keep Coolkies to "until I close Firefox"
This should keep everything clean.

Now to speed up Firefox
Type in "about:config" in your navigation toolbar.
network.http.pipelining = false
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests = 4
network.http.pipelining = true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests = 30
network.http.proxy.pipelining = false
network.http.proxy.pipelining = true

Then you need to create one new option:

* Right click anywhere on the page and select New-> Integer.
* Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay"
* Set its value to "0"

For extentions I recommend:
BugMeNot - For bypassing those annoying free signups (http://extensions.roachfiend.com/bugmenot.xpi)
Web Developer - Very useful toolbar that adds to Firefox's awesomeness (http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... 9.3-fx.xpi)
Flashgot - Download many files at once with a simple click (http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... +ns+tb.xpi)

Too bad I can't install Firefox here at school...;__; Then I would and they'd have no clue what I'm doing...
What will you remember me for?
