yeah, has anyone ever noticed how this part of the forum really sucks now....its all this random bull crap, such as topics about anime (one for each we can thing of). And other stupid crap.

We used to have good topics about interesting things.....now its a big spam fest for everyone to enjoy. I've felt this way since when we got three different show dissussions on here.

Knowing you guys, you most likely disagree....but I cant take this anymore...and just had to say it.

Personally, I have no problem with either General Discussion or Games. I guess if they get streamlined to your and Vili's satisfaction I'll probably have more time to sleep; maybe that's your idea of a "win/win" situation...

I can't really deny that what Vili's saying is pretty true. Indeed, not everyone feels this way, I'm sure, though I for one do. This place has become.. well, I'm not really sure about the words for it. All I know is that it's not how it used to be (and keep in mind that my "used to be" is not the same as the one shared by Erynn, Rodri, Yis and x1 when they were the main posters on the site.. my "used to be" is still a month or so recent). It's not very fun anymore. I really hate saying this. =\

I have a hard time coming here to post anymore because there's so much extra stuff I couldn't care less about. All I want is to talk about CL and socialize with those here that I have become friends with. Many of the topics here don't really do either, at least in my view.

Anyways, I'm sure that once CL airs there will be more CL discussion, however because of all of the spam, I'm not so sure of the socializing between friends. Because of this, I'd really appreciate it if any one of my friends here that is interested in continuing to talk to me (because I'm not here that much anymore) would PM me their e-mail, AIM sn, or MSN address. xD

(Also, BTW, if you -do- PM me, it doesn't guarantee that I will add you. Sorry. xD)

Honestly you guys... try to picture what this is like from my point of view... I'm doing all I can just to keep my *own* life in order, much less the forum's. And I can't just ban/delete like crazy... that wouldn't be fair.

And Oboy, this is not new news to me... I've known LF has been going downhill for some time now.

So give me your advice as to what I should do about it. I'm all ears.

OK, the problem with Lf in MY opinion is this, you all come WAY to much. If you would just take a break, and when I say break I mean a break from internet, your IM list, everything that's on line you would feel so much better. I have been on on day yesterday and today and for what. What are we getting done by going on here or to any web site everyday.

Don't get me wrong now Erin, I love you and thank you for this site, but still every needs to hear what I told you that one day. LF is slowly going downhill because you all are growning-up.....that's scares me to know that you all are not going to be 14 forever. You all will grow up and move on to bigger things.


Don't say that you will never leave LF, cause it's not true.....so I'm just saying.....live your life outside of this place.....and I promise that your LF time will be awesome.

This place has become.. well, I'm not really sure about the words for it. ...erm, I have been here for more than a month, and maybe apart from fewer posts over the past week or so (yes, fewer, judged by me going to sleep earlier in the nights) I have not noticed a major change in the character of "General Discussion" Well, apart from some new people coming and going; some have settled in, others have got bored and left (...SU!) fortunately, the ones that tend to get bored and leave usually coincide with the ones we'd like to see leave...

You may talk about anything here, as long as it's G-rated. If you have something a little less innocent to talk about, post it at the Big Kids Only board. Topics like that include everything listed in the forum rules.

If you aren't sure if your topic is safe, post it to the BKO board anyway.

That's the only rule. Other than that, go nuts and have fun!

How, exactly, does one streamline this? Or is it that some going nuts prevent others from having fun?

Let's take a look at the last ten threads (before this one, anyway...)

1. Top 15 console games (probably of more interest to Vili than to me; don't own a "console" and have no great desire to get one...)

2. What are you listening to? (general interest)

3. Favourite songs and there (sic) lyrics (again general interest; both this and the previously mentioned give some idea of what we like and what we are like...)

4. My Dad The Rock Star (IMO, this could have been done without, but some of the things I like are thought of by others as things that can be done without... see "8" & "9")

5. freaky sugarhigh dreams... (somewhat strange, but still, what's really wrong with a discussion of our dreams?)

6. Another one of my boring threads which contains good information (the title says it all; would be good information if I had any idea whatsoever how to use it; there are others who do, however, and it is probably useful to them...)

7. Birthdays (an old thread that deserves to be revived by newbies, at least by those who stay...)

8. Who likes Martin Mystery? (discussion of a TV show, and why not?)

9. Full Metal Alchemist (ditto above)

10. very sad. (started by someone who was at the time...)

Random discussions about random things. Sounds like a reasonable description of "General Discussion" to me.

I suppose... when I created this site... I was really only thinking about myself... I would go to TVT and be nameless little Erynn; the new girl who would never really be anything. And I'd idolize you big posters, in a way... Gino too, even though he was barely there for us towards the end. I wanted to be something among you... so I made LF.

And I met all of you and it was so much fun! I loved administrating this site because all the users were so bright and mature and intelligent... and so, so sweet... oh god, you guys were so nice to me......

You've probably saved me from doing some really stupid things before... no, I know you all have. It'll sound retarded but for a while the only reason why I felt like living was to take care of my place on the internet... Lyokofreak... the other places too...

I loved it. No, I love it.

And I'm so sorry that I couldn't prevent this from happening. I wanted to make this a happy place and I wanted to be a big, strong community. I wanted to be real and honest and true and good. I guess I didn't do that.

Thank you SB, you have just sloved to problem, let's cut GD...what does it do but spam everything and the games, LF is cool when it first started and it didn't have any games. Let's go back to basics here.

This is LF.net LYOKOFREAK.net, so everything sould really be about Lyoko. So lets keep it that way and cut the fat out. BKO can stay cause that our place to chill but eveything esle should me all lyoko and nothing esle.

Once you start to go off topic, your site starts to go too. I say cut the fat and keep everything lyoko

If General Discussion and Games bother you so much, then why do you bother to go there? You don't have to look at every forum.

BTW, you point out General Discussion and Games as being full of spam. Take a good look at BKO. IYO, how many worthwhile threads are there?

Take away GD and games, and I will assure you of one thing. *ALL* the spam that used to be at GD and games will eventually end up in BKO. That is, assuming it isn't there already...

StarWay, I'm entirely indebted to you concerning this site. When TV Tome was pulled out so abruptly, you and this wonderful forum were there to catch me, with most of all of my old TVT friends there holding the edges. I love this place. I know I could never run a forum and have it even a fraction of how good this place truly is to me. You have always done and given us your very best. My opinion there will never change.

So far as the Games and GD debate goes, I've only recently started visiting the Games forum and therefore really can't form an opinion quite yet. I suppose a few of the games are slightly repetitive, but IIRC...most of you all at least asked specifically for that "Caption Contest" to avoid any further contact with TV.com. So I'm not sure what to think here.

General Discussion...okay, so maybe there are a few too many "show" threads. Some, like the RK thread, I won't deny I enjoyed chatting on, and had some pretty valid "general discussion" on them though. Even with the fan threads aside though, GD is the place where we have our 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina tributes. We've got X1's site thread. We've got OBK's site thread. And there's a few other really decent threads in here. They can't all be labeled spam.

The other thing is...without GD, where are all the under 13-ers going to go to give their opinions on the things mentioned above. If you delete GD, they're excluded from it...for the simple crime that they haven't turned 13 and therefore can't post their opinions at BKO, should they wish it. BKO is great for general discussion, but only if you're 13. As Hamlet puts it, "Aye, there's the rub."

I truly don't know how to fix the supposed problems here. I really don't see any problems with it...more I think we're in the healing period, where things can only get better (not that I ever found anything amiss here). Perhaps I simply haven't been here long enough. I don't know what it was like back in the days when LF was brand new. I can only say that I truly don't have a problem with LF as it is now. I can't complain about something, that I myself would never be able to create on my own, as StarWay has with this forum.

Okay, I hear everyone saying that this very forum isn't the same thing as it used to be before. And I know that I have thought that way before, but it's really sickening me to hear it over and over again.

The past was better. Yes, it was. But we can't live from the past. And that is a mistake that I've seen before, like at my country for example. It sickens me, really. You don't know how... but we have to progress and make this site better, instead of arguign about it.

Almost all the non-related CL topics usually go off-topic because we choose to do that way for because of a fight. That, I have to say about it.

We always log in to see something interesting at LF, but some of us just get mad to see a newbie posting some meaningless stuff, and I know that pisses off people a lot. But at the end, we have have different point of views about each topic.

About staying away from topics, well that happen. Like when SamBlob can't say nothing about videogames, I can't say almost something about RK or any other anime show. And to be honest, if it wasn't for just wasting $150 in a week and almost staying broke without my dad to give me cash to live through February, I swear I wouldn't be here TODAY!!

I sometimes try to come to LF often, but sadly, there's nothing worth to reply. I promise I could have new ideas for threads and topics to talk about.

Problems can be solved by Erynn or by OURSELVES!! It's just a matter of reasoning between all the members.

When this very site began, I was feeling weird about being here. Eventually, it became one of the best things ever. And we all have different best moments at LF. And I thank to God everyday (well, sometimes) for not forgetting my password to get here. And also to Erynn, even if I don't talk to her as much as others do, I'm grateful for knowing her. It's not only her problem, but also ours. We are the ones who make LF go through a path. Now, we should solve this.

And this is a CL forum. And I've seen here people that BARELY said something about CL, and for some reason I just don't think that's good. Mostly, Erynn's friends, for example. No offence, but isn't CL the true reason to belong here?

We still have the Va's, but I get the feeling it's not the same anymore with them.

I think all the forums are okay. You cant't just take away GD for people under the age of 13 and the Games section that distresses some people.

I guess we are in a healing period. This had to happen some day. Things can't just be perfect all the time. Some thing has to be done.

Soon, CL Discussion will be more crowded. Let's see if Season 2 releasing helps a little bit.

If everyone wants the site to change so badly, start changing it yourself. It's a TEAM effort. EVERYONE should help keep the forum the way they want it, because if someone slacks off on a team, the team ends up not doing very well. We all need to WORK TOGETHER to solve these problems. Earlier in the year (like on the 1st day of school) our teacher had us list what type of class we want to be (humorous, obedient, etc.). Whenever someone misbehaved, she asked if that was being what type of class we wanted to be. Because, even if only one person doesn't behave, the whole class isn't the class we wanted to be. So, I'm going to ask you:
Are you acting the way you want others to act on this forum? The way you want this forum to be?

If you aren't, then either stop complaining or clean up your act. That's all I have to say.

Also, I feel like it's difficult to get into the forum; there's an established "clique" group, and people do take cues from other posters. If they see ppl typing like dis from the Senior Members, what's going to stop them from going, "Well, I guess I could slak off on my typin!11"?

There are a lot of ways to bring meaningful discussion to the General Discussion forum; one way is to start new threads by yourself, and hope some intelligent discussion gets out of it. There's a problem with starting threads, and that is if you start it and only have a few words in the post--say, "Code LYOKO movies" is the title, and your post is "so talk", that probably isn't going to provoke much discussion at all. Instead, the thread starter could write a paragraph or ten about the current rumors bouncing around, links to image galleries, and compare it to seasons one and two. Things like that. So instead of bemoaning, "OH THE BOARD IS DEAD" you could probably revitalize this forum by becoming a little... er, wordy. This not only creates discussion (because since you started one, people can bounce off your ideas), but could potentially draw a crowd.

And re: cut back on visiting the forum
I don't think it's as much as too many people visiting the forum as it's people being online for similar amounts of time, but posting more often.

I know that I could be seen as way out of line ("HOW DARE YOU IMPOSE YOUR ELITIST ATTITUDE ON US MAN"), but from my experiences with forums, proactivity does help.

While I'm not sure about the slack typing part (I guess I'm not sensetive enough to it; once I can comprehend it I read it...), I must admit that a pecking order has developed here: the foundation members at the top, latecoming ex-Tomers in the middle, and then a gradient down from there depending on how much history one has here. That's pretty much to be expected when one site develops out of another site's demise

I am not sure how much of this is directed to the CL-related categories. Most of us who persist here have reasonably well-defined threads in the CL-related categories. I think what's trying to be said here is that the General Discussion category is a bit too general, which confuses the inferno out of me because I thought that was the point of this category...
