"I Was Unprepared For War"

Postby Gauntlet » Mon Dec 08, 2008 11:30 pm

Bush on ABC News wrote:Looking back on his eight years in the White House, President George W. Bush said he was "unprepared" for war and pinpointed incorrect intelligence that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction as "biggest regret of all the presidency."

"I think I was unprepared for war," Bush told ABC News' Charlie Gibson in an interview airing today on "World News." "In other words, I didn't campaign and say, 'Please vote for me, I'll be able to handle an attack,'" he said. "In other words, I didn't anticipate war. Presidents -- one of the things about the modern presidency is that the unexpected will happen."

Just one of many sources.

So, SO SO SO true.

I think Bush's general image was shaped a whole lot (and his economic lack-of policies) by 9/11. He saw a chance to strike at the Bozos who smacked a plane into the World Trade Center (even if it <s>was incorrect</s>Didn't have nukes there, although it had chemical weapons.) and he took it. Also, he should be commended for seeing (although not admitting) a <s>mistake </s> Intelligence error and fixing it up best as he could. And, Iraq DID have ties to Al Qaeda.

At least, that's how it looks to me...

EDIT: Beh, I should never get on this site after 9. Forgot all about most of Iraq.

But I thought the whole point to admitting to a mistake is to form an apology?

Everyone in power in Iraq, yes. Anyone who didn't conform to the Baath Party was tortured and killed.

Prehaps you should be saying Al-Q was in Iraq instead of implying they had some power in the goverment we were fighting.... But you could also say in the months before 9/11 we had ties to Al-Q in our country as well (until, you know, they died in the plane crashes)

I said IRAQ had ties to Al-Q, so I thought I was clear. Sorry.

And yes, we did give em crap to help fight the Communists, so it's partially our fault.

And, it's also Bill Clinton's fault for NOT TAKING THE CHANCE TO WHACK OSAMA.

Not to mention Bush Sr. had a chance to get Hussein long before that during the whole Desert Storm operation. But he merely deported him from power and said, "Okay, cool. He'll never rise to power again. Good job everyone."

8 years later... >_>;;;

Not taking sides here, really; Just thought this should be pointed out.

That is true. What is so sad about this whole war is we have lost alot of good men thanks to this stupid war, and we are going to have to be over there alot longer until this stuff has been resolved. Like Mew pointed out earlier maybe this war could have been prevented during Desert Storm, who knows. What I do know is that we are losing good men and good women over there. Three of my friends are in the Army and are being shipped out, I think one of them has already shipped out. I wish we could end this and prevent further loss of lives. But that is not gonna happen any time soon.

You know who we should blame and end this whole mess?

Winston Churchill. He created the country of Iraq.

So there.

You can't blame Churchill! He was awesome! Blame the whole... continant of Europe, EXCEPT for Churchill. They screwed it over before it had a chance.

Um...Winston Chrurchill lumped a bunch of tribes and cultures wantonly into a mass we call Iraq. So I blame him.

lol @ Charlemagne.

Now I know why they call it a quote pyramid.
I really gotta fix up this theme

Everyone in power in Iraq, yes. Anyone who didn't conform to the Baath Party was tortured and killed.

So....everyone had power in Iraq?

Prehaps you should be saying Al-Q was in Iraq instead of implying they had some power in the goverment we were fighting.... But you could also say in the months before 9/11 we had ties to Al-Q in our country as well (until, you know, they died in the plane crashes)

I said IRAQ had ties to Al-Q, so I thought I was clear. Sorry.

And yes, we did give em crap to help fight the Communists, so it's partially our fault.

And, it's also Bill Clinton's fault for NOT TAKING THE CHANCE TO WHACK OSAMA.

Uhhh.... you do know that that event never actually happened, right? I'm assuming you're talking about that one TV special that was embelished beyond belief that placed the blame on the CLinton administration?

Really? Where can I read that?

Saw it on the news. Sorry, no printed sources handy... which I do realize undercuts my argument quite a bit, but nonetheless, I'm sticking with my words.

Not to mention Bush Sr. had a chance to get Hussein long before that during the whole Desert Storm operation. But he merely deported him from power and said, "Okay, cool. He'll never rise to power again. Good job everyone."

8 years later... >_>;;;

Not taking sides here, really; Just thought this should be pointed out.

Yeah, that's true. I dunno, we would of cared less if we didn't get bad intel involving nukes...

That is true. What is so sad about this whole war is we have lost alot of good men thanks to this stupid war, and we are going to have to be over there alot longer until this stuff has been resolved. Yeah, but Churchill defeated Hitler. That tends to make a man tired. He probably just drew random lines on the map and said "good enough." and then went to bed. Poor hitler-fighting, sleep-deprived guy.

I believe this was while he was, like, Whatever the British Evquivalent of Secretary of State...or something. He wasn''t Prime Minister then.

And If I'm horribly, horribly wrong, TB3 can throw something at me.
