Fox News has been sponsering "tea parties" to protest wasteful spending. These tea parties have involved buying hundreds of tea bags in addition to the signs, so not only are they ironic but they even refer to these protests as "tea bagging". I kid you not, apparently no one knew the conotation and it stuck before they figured it out.

Fox devoted a lot of coverage to it, but they didn't organize it. The concept was first suggested by a CNBC commentator, then went memetic.

Certainly no Right Wing Conspiracy sponsored the protest in my out-in-the-sticks hometown... still got 75 people in the rain, I hear.

Simply put, people are ticked that the government's spending ridiculous amounts of money with no plans for paying it back. A lot of people I know have been steamed since October, and both parties have been a letdown.

Also, however unfortunate the name, the jokes were in rather poor taste for reporters...

Yea but it isn't exactly a cross-section of america, if you look through the pictures of the events you'll see one black guy. I'm not saying that a lot of these weren't organized by actual people, but Fox did organize quite a few; like the one at the Alamo. I can see people protesting wasteful govornment spending, but why didn't they protest when the last president was spending like crazy as well? Also it's hard to pick out some of the trolls, a few are obvious, but others are well hidden.

Also one of my fav signs:

And this is a definite troll, not neccessarily wrong though (not so sure about above, there were some pretty stupid signs)

I apologize for the double post but, it seems I was slightly off about the breakdown of people as the below pic shows.

Yes. Yes, this is funny.
Teabagging. lol [/snicker]

And wow, that is ironic. Buying excessively to protest excessive spending.
I really gotta fix up this theme

Well, they at least have the money to back their spending.

Tsh, I had a chance to go to one of those, but instead went to a dinner where John Engler (former governor) was speaking.
