Tangent128 wrote:Umm... the chip being peddled there is not linked to any government programs, and certainly not linked to financial payment. There is no computer called "The Beast" I'm aware of, and throwing everything on one computer is a ridiculously stupid idea to start with.
Even then, an implanted chip for payment has plenty of practical issues- how do you select which credit card or checking account to use? How are children with neither credit or checking accounts supposed to buy anything? How do you do any business where a network connection or even a computer is unavailable?
I'm a big proponent of decentralization; it's much safer and more reliable.
All that said, I don't intend to get any mark-like chips. Probably not any chips, for that matter.

1. A computer to track everybody on Earth would not need to be 3-stories tall. You would only need a fraction of that space to do this task. That includes redundant servers and backup storage farms. There are no 3-story computers out there.
2. A self-programming computer? AI (artificial intelligence) has yet to be achieved. While technologies in this field are making astounding advances, as of yet, we do not have computers that can program themselves.
Get the facts before you post. The end times are near. But spreading fear and fiction will not make our Lord come back any faster. All in His time.
Computers=end time stories have been around since before this millennium. Yes, it makes some sense, and there is ample evidence on both ends of the spectrum, but is that what really matters? Some of you said that the beast=other religions. This isn’t necessarily true. It could be many things, Revelation is very ambiguous about the Beast, but that’s not important. What’s coming will come, and we’ll face it when it does, but until then, all we can do is this: keep on the lookout for Satan’s deceptions, regardless of their nature, and to know where we stand. Though very few would say they’re on Satan’s side, this doesn’t mean they are on God’s side. Know where you stand, so that when the time comes, you’re ready. Fellow Christians, listen to me; as for seekers, doubters, and atheists, read the Bible, you’d be surprised at what you find, because even if the stories aren’t true (though I firmly believe they are) the morals are truer than those of Aesop’s Fables.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
Mark 13: 32-37

...Doesn't anyone watch Mythbusters? Seriously, the episode where they talk about implanted chips was just on Discovery this week and most of the rumors surrounding these things are waaay overblown.
I think that's fine if people would like to choose not to have a chip implanted on religious grounds because that's their freedom to choose, but I don't think it's cool to shoot the idea down for everyone.

+1
And in reply to lord quackstar, I don't believe in 2012, 6/6/06 or anything like that because of Matthew 24:36

I want to reply to that, but I'm not sure of what you're trying to get across...

I'm assuming that you are talking about WEP here. The reason WEP is easily crackable it because it is horrendously insecure. I would assume something like WPA2-TKIP plus a password and an RC5 or AES secured key (It takes years to crack a key with just 64 bit RC5 with crowdsourcing)Gadget wrote:O and something DT said caught my interest, WHAT IF WE GET EMPED! Erm, is there actually such a thing as an EMP bomb? Never heard of one in real life.
That being said, RFIDs are horribly insecure in themselves, which is why many people smash the chips in their credit cards if they have them in there or buy a RFID blocking case for their passport (it's illegal to smash or destroy the chip in a passport because it counts as an alteration.

Nuclear bombs give off an EMP i believe, at least that was the plot of Metal Gear Solid 2. Solidus was going to liberate manhatten by launching a nuke into the atmosphere over it causing an EMP to destroy Wallstreet.
