Dunno whether this goes in rant or SD, but since I'm getting angry about it I guess I'll post it here 'cause I'll probably be ranting.

My issue is with the failure to uphold the grammar rule I've seen in this forum. I know not everyone is perfect with grammar but is that a justifiable reason as to why people ARE <i>NOT</i> USING THE FREAKIN' CAPS LOCK BUTTON?

I'm serious. THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON IS RIGHT THERE ON YOUR KEYBOARD! NOT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLANET, IT'S ON YOUR KEYBOARD.

I see people still uphold the rule against chat-speak thing, but seriously, if we don't uphold the smaller things, like THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON THAT'S ON YOUR KEYBOARD, then people may continue to disregard the grammar rule further along the road to the point where no one does anything about chat-speak.

I remember seeing Star Way warning someone to use the CAPS LOCK BUTTON AND/OR SHIFT BUTTON (YES, THAT CAPITALIZES YOUR LETTERS TOO) before. I think she would want us to uphold that rule.

Well, yeah. I really hate it when people don't start sentances with capital letters, or don't upper case the I. I'm still a "Grammar Nazi" on the forum haha. The only thing I'm afraid of is when people talk in all uppercase because they are excited. I just find it so stupid.

Yeah, its definitely a difficult thing. Grammar Nazi's can be a good thing..and yes, we shall unite..but sometimes newbies dont get the picture, and do it anyway. I agree with ya Knifeshock.

It's not that it makes it hard to read, but it's the fact that these people are showing explicit disregard for the rules, they look like morons, and not using THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON, WHICH IS LOCATED ON YOUR KEYBOARD, makes the forum look more ugly. I'm pretty sure LF being worse isn't what a lot of us would want.

Definitely not...and the mods are pretty busy with other things, so we can help fill in the gaps by helping them with the noobs and grammar issues.

Actually, in this case, I think it would be more preferable if you would simply PM an Admin or Mod about a member who is not using correct grammar and spelling.

The reasoning for this is that pointing out someone's poor spelling or grammar out to them in the open forum can be somewhat embarrassing for a person, particularly if it is one of the cases in which the person has a condition that results in this kind of typing.

It is far easier, and less stressful, if a Mod or Admin is PMed about a user who is typing badly, as that way, an admonition can be given out privately through a PM and the reason for the poor typing can be given in private as well (if there is one).

I really appreciate you guys wanting to help, but if you could keep these suggestions in mind, that would be great. ^_^

I will toss in my two cents, however, and say that one or two infractions is probably not enough to contact one of us. I'd say only go to the PMs, or make a mental note of the person's grammar at all, if their posts are routinely like that.

But that's just what I think ^^;

Ah, I agree with that as well. There's only any real need for concern if the person is doing it regularly like CB said.

After all, no one's perfect and we all make grammar and spelling mistakes once in a while (I make them quite a bit myself ^^; ).

Bad grammar makes me mad too. If there's an arguement, and someone makes various spelling/punctuation mistakes, I'm actually tempted to go in and fix them myself. xD;;

ALSO, I AM SURE MANY OF YOU ARE AWARE OF MY LOVE OF THE CAPSLOCK KEY. I won't abuse it though, I swear.

We understand that people make mistakes, its bound to happen. We completely understand that fact. What we are talking about when we talk about the actions and stuff are the people that continuously and DELIBERATELY do this...HAY, I LYK DIS SHO 4 ALL DA RESUNZ & LUV TO TYP LIK dis even.
