The world's gone MAD

Postby _stromboli__ » Sat Mar 24, 2007 4:14 pm

Eugh... this month has vacuumed for me... I live in a middling-sized town in mid-Michigan. Nothing out of the ordinary happens here. Nothing. A few years ago we had our first murder in nearly twenty years. Sure, we've got our share of whack-jobs, and druggies, and all around idiots, but that's about it.

Until this month.

No student in my high school will forget March seventh, 2007. The first time our school district ever saw a school shooting.

The story goes like this, as far as any of us know. The shooter (male) had bipolar disorder, among other things, and had been off his meds for a few weeks. He had been going out with a girl who then broke up with him some time last school year, then transferred to our school. Well, the guy's bipolar started acting up, and he got his mom's gun, drove to our town, asked in student services if they could call her down, saying he was her fiance, and that he had some personal items to give her. Well, they told him that they couldn't do that unless he was a parent or guardian, and that she wasn't in school that day because she had called in sick. They let him use the phone to call her, then asked him to leave the building. Well, she was coming back to school because she felt better, and he confronted her in the parking lot. They argued for a few minuets, then he pulled a handgun out of his backpack, shot her three times in the chest and once in the arm before shooting himself. He's dead, she's recovering. She had a metal plate in her chest, something left after she had broken her collar bone, and it saved her. The shot in her arm did more damage than the three in her chest.

So, just in case all of us weren't messed up enough from that, guess what happened just yesterday. I don't know the details as well, but there was a bomb threat at the school across town. They had to evacuate the students, and then send them all home.

Yeah. All this in our nice, quiet little town. Stromboli is displeased. And school councilors are booked through the next two months. The world's gone mad.

Well in the UK, mainly London, there has been an increasing number of teenage releated gun crime, the thing is that teenages have guns in the first place. Apparently in the news a couple of weeks ago they said you can get guns as cheap as £30. The world is going mad I actually fear for it's destruction no one can go anywhere anymore without the thought of getting shot, and the funny thing is that the police don't seem to be doing a thing about it. For instance my friends work in a laundrette during and every evening a group of thugs terrorise the place and the thing is that when my friend's mum calls the police they don't bother appearing at all saying that there's more important cases to attend to, my friend said that he recently found a knife when he went to go pick up his mum. What if they decided to attack her

The "iPod " generation is going to lead this world into a downward spiral.

It saddens me to hear of another incident. I extend my sympathies, and I am here if you need someone to talk to.
