Technically, anime is a kind of cartoon. It just doesn't fit the standard anime storyline or animation style.

I heard a while back that they would be changing the manes. Good thing too, I'd hate to hear Ulrich's name being said...

... seriously, Kamekai. >_> Tone down a bit. I don't think Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat has naked people and action. The main characters are 10-year old chibi cat girls from a planet of cuteness. <_<

And about what YU said: In Japan, ALL forms of cartoons and animation are referred to as anime. The Simpsons is anime. Bugs Bunny is anime. Pokemon is anime to both them and us. Outside Japan everyone refers to animation created in Japan as anime. Code Lyoko has the looks of an anime which is why it's mistaken to be Japanese so much. I'd say more but I think I'm wrong and I'm getting a huge case of deja-vu writing this. o_0

Strange... even with the Internet, Japan is still so far away. You'd think someone there could have posted the theme song on YouTube.
(yeah, the cool links in my old sig died. :( A few nerdy newish projects are here. )

Wow, a Triple post! Never seen that before. Anyway, A Japanese Code Lyoko sounds like a good idea, even for people who don't speak Japanese. Maybe people obsessed with anime will have one less shot in their arsenal when they bash CL.

Or an extra bullet, all depends on how they look at it.

I'm curious as to how they'll accept it, though. Same goes for the Megatokyo series.

Huh? What does Megatokyo have to do with this? I know the comic was just licensed in Japan and they will publish a Japanese version of it, but... :P

...?

Megatokyo is a foreign comic that has success here, but it's unsure as to how it'll be accepted in the place it's modeled after. There's a lot of political and cultural scenarios that could alter how it'll be received, as to wherther Japanese fans will like the american Manga. The modern culture has more potential than you think, same as the basis for Megatokyo. It's unclear if Japanese fans will accept Code Lyoko, since it's so often confuzed for Japanese anime by American because of the unique drawing style.

Who wouldn't accept Code: Lyoko? Do they have a Japanese Matrix dub? that'll help a little. :D

You'd be surprised...

That's what I'm saying. We can't tell for sure if it's gonna go through or not.

I'm pretty sure it will. Two years ago, Invader Zim was dubbed into Japanese. And it appears to be well-accepted by the Japanese community.

Yes, but that's because everyone loves the random GIR.

But not everyone would like the masculine fighting style coupled with the femiine drama. IOt might be hitting too many audiences.

Might be. But who knows.

-----

I personally wanna hear the dub for two reasons.

1. I love the Japanese language.
2. I KNEW this dub was going to be made, even two years ago.

What's wrong with hitting a lot of audiences? I'm sure it will do fine. If people like it here, why not in Japan? I mean. The type of people who like it must exist there as well, right? And like. Cultural differences? You know CL comes from <i>France.</i> Not exactly a state in the Union.
