They are using a custom-made flash player that the designer really didn't know what to do, seeing as just under two minutes, the video becomes choppy. I opened my task manager to see if it was my computer's fault. Well...
Normal Quality YouTube video -> 3% to 10% CPU Usage
High Quality YouTube video -> 16% to 24% CPU Usage
codelyoko.fr -> 50% to 60% CPU Usage!
Oh, it is a custom player because when you right-click your mouse on the video screen, it tells you that it is custom with the first entry.
Another issue with the player is it only streams in real time (making pausing to load useless), which would be a good idea if you have a high-end desktop PC. Adobe Flash Player 9, which is the one everyone uses, loads and buffers the data before streaming, so pausing and leaving the application alone works.
Code Lyoko Max is a little better (27% to 45% CPU Usage). With this overwhelming evidence, why don't they use YouTube because they use streaming compression algorithms.
Sorry about the rant, I need to get this anger relieved. Thank you for putting up with me.
