Opera

Postby Tangent128 » Wed Nov 14, 2007 1:06 am

I know at least three users here are fans of the Opera web browser; any others? What do you like about it?

Oh, and for any other web geeks out there, check out this article. It has an experimental Opera build for download. If the words "3d canvas" or "video tag" mean anything to you...

I've never tried Opera, but I have tried Firefox & find it better than IE. UNFORTUNATELY, Firefox and LyokoFreak (and a few other forums) don't get along. :whatever:

IE is the standard browser on computers that ironically doesn't always display correctly webpages made from software produced by the same company. No special features of it's own, and it's slow. Plus, I really don't trust the newest version. Cuz who would really make a tab system and have the Close Tab the first option and the New Tab at the bottom?

Netscape, I use to love it over IE because I saw it had tabs. Then I discovered and jumped to Firefox. I haven't tried the newest version much though, but it looks okay. Like a corporate version of Firefox. *shrugs*

Firefox is so wonderful. Simple, quick, and convenient, with a variety of useful of add-ons if you want to enhance it. And if I had to shutdown suddenly, the restore session is very nice. My ultimate choice for browser.

Opera is also a great browser. So many features of it's own and very customizable. There's also those widget thingys...but I didn't get them. The only problem is it's horrible with slower connections, and insists on pausing the display until the page is fully loaded. Many times, it would freeze for a minute or two, and I found it very aggravating.

How so? I've only noticed that Firefox inserts BBC at the end of the message instead of where the cursor is on Invisionfree forums. That and you can't copy & paste in Tv.com's javascipt reply thingy, not without manually changing some files on system. >_>

I've been working on a Supercalculator-console style skin for Opera; if anybody wants to try a very rough, incomplete version, save this file into the skins directory of your profile.

(Edit: copy and paste the link address; clicking it doesn't seem to work)

Does anybody know where I can find some proper CL screenshots of Jeremie's screen? I've been working off of a low resolution, blurry frame from the title sequence for now; not much to work with. ;)

I haven't posted here yet? Huh, weird. But I do proudly use the Opera browser. I love the features it has, like Speed Dial and the magic wand that stores passwords and such. There are also widgets, but I've never used them.

I use Opera too sometimes. This forum works better in IE and Firefox, though. The text in size 0 is easy to view on Opera unlike the other two, just saying...

You can fix that by going to Tools>Preferences>Advanced>Fonts

Here's how I've got Opera setup right now.
