Michael Cheng

The kid who won the contest to be drawn in an episode of Code Lyoko, was shown in the episode Cold War. Due to his appearance (asian-looking), and that there aren't many more episodes left in season two, I strongly believe that it is in fact Michael.

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, and if it is, I apologize. But some of you didn't know, and Michael deserves a proper thread, IMO.

Haven't seen Cold War yet. But I've heard it's good. So he might feel proud of voicing in one of the best CL episodes ever.

Lucky indeed!!! An appearnce in one of the most awesome CL episodes!? That's some serious karma!

The contest was sponsored by CL.com. To enter, you had to send a picture of yourself to their team along with a 1 page story about what your life would be like if you were a Code Lyoko character. The winner was supposedly chosen by the creator of Code Lyoko, and that winner was Michael Cheng. The prize for winning was a "walk-on" appearance in an episode of season 2 (not necessarily a chance to voice-act, I believe though). For a long while, I figured Hiroki might have been Michael Cheng's persona, but Hiroki has sinceforth appeared and several more episodes, which debunks that theory. X1's found his true appearance I believe. ^_^

darn....I was thinking that they would use your likness and your voice for your character. I mean there wouldn't be any major problems since the part is pretty small. If they did this thing for season 3 and got to voice the character I would SOOOOOOOOO enter that.

I know. That really would have been an awesome prize. It would however have required a flight ticket for at least two to France though, so that he could record, which perhaps Moonscoop or AnteFilms didn't have the finances for at the time (seeing as how this was before CL really hit its media publicity boom). That's why they had all entrants send in a photo of themself for the animators and character designers to work from. It's still a pretty cool prize on its own. 15 seconds of CL fame! Even more so with repeats. ^.^

Since Michael was 10 at that moment, I'm sure he traveled to France with at least one of his parents (or whoever is in charge of him, in case he doesn't have parents) . But how many members did CL.com had when Cheng joined? Nah, that number isn't as important as the number of drawings for it.

More than 15 seconds of CL... it's Paris, baby!! Now the question would be who voiced in french and spanish Cheng's characther? Sure for the spanish version, one of the 7 VA's could do it.

^^; CL.com has finally released some info about this kid. Those of you who have CL.com accounts, log in and follow the link called "Lyoko Life". He's the first story on that page. I'm working on getting a screenshot up for everyone to see.

Anyway, apparently, that was not him in "Cold War". According to CL.com he was to appear in the episode, "Franz Hopper" (Episode #47). I'm going to rewatch that episode when I get the chance to figure out exactly what scene he appears in but I can only assume it was during one of the scenes at school. ^^; CL.com has a real life photo of him as well as his character designs (lineart and in color). Again, I'm working on getting a screenshot so even those that aren't members at CL.com can see it.

I'm just glad they finally let us know where to look for him. This was really an awesome prize.

It's possible that he appears in "Tip Top Shape" instead (which would make slightly more sense this that has far more school scenes). "Franz Hopper" was the 47th episode to air here, but "Tip Top Shape" is episode #47 by title, I believe. If so, then that's my mistake. He appears in "Tip Top Shape", and not "Franz Hopper". ^^;

No. Early last year (or late 2004) CL.com held a contest in which Entrants sent in a photo of themselves and a one page story about what their Code Lyoko experiences would be if they were a character in the show. The prize was getting drawn in as a new student at Kadic in a season 2 episode.

Michael Cheng was the winner, and they've finally released his photo and his character design so we can look for him in "Tip Top Shape".

1) They haven't released that yet, I don't think, and they may not ever, since I think that Jerome Mouscadet was to decide on the winner himself, and that all story entries became property of AnteFilms and MoonScoop. (So they could create your character).

2) I believe they only created a character of him (flying him to France to voice the character would have been a little out of there budget likely). I don't think he voiced his character for that reason, and because his character was just a walk on extra with no lines (I think he's one of the boys waiting in line quietly for his physical in "Tip Top Shape").

I agree that while voicing your own character (and having the opportunity to meet the VAs at the same time, and watch them record) would be an amazing prize, having the chance to actually become a cartoon character in a show you love, and getting to see your character on TV is nothing to sneeze at. I'd have gone nuts if I'd won. ^^; Especially because then, you're techincally a legal, canon OC. You can right yourself into a fanfic as a CL character and no one can give you grief for it.

Was it literally a toddler contest or could SamBlob participate on the contest too (and if he won, appearing as a guest star teacher)?

I agree that while voicing your own character (and having the opportunity to meet the VAs at the same time, and watch them record) would be an amazing prize, having the chance to actually become a cartoon character in a show you love, and getting to see your character on TV is nothing to sneeze at. A legal CL Characther... that sounds nice to be in a fanfic... but think about it well, MewB. There's always someone who can do CL slash fics... be careful with those nice thoughts of yours. *hugs*
