I must say, you sure have a lot of time to go and post that. And I am impressed with your extensive writing skills, and your ability to give me a feel for what the shows are really like. Once I get the chance, Ill put up some for animes that I like (such as FMA, DNAngel, and s-cry-ed).

Did I happen to mentino that you are my new best friend. :*D

I am not much into anime. Practically the only anime I watch is "Case Closed" (not airing right now) and "InuYasha".

I used to watch "Battle of the Planets" about two decades ago, though.

Oh yes, as for Miyazaki, I looked at a listing of his work a few weeks ago and saw that the first thing he directed was a TV series that came on while "Case Closed" was coming on recently and that I watched and enjoyed. It's called "Lupin the 3rd".

Im sorry, i couldnt resist. when it comes to l33t, I just love to use it, though there are many things I have yet to learn about it. l33t is a though art to perfect, I consider myself to be moderately l33t. There are some letters that I only know one way to use, but I know there ARE more.

Anyway, sorry I didnt get the anime rants up yet...its been a hectic day. good night people...I need to sleep.

I said: Don't you start with that.

Oh, and I agree with your asessment of EVA, especially the comment on the movie End of Evangelion. Orange goo is right, I have a complete grasp of the series (I can break down the symbolism and all of the different religious and phycological references for you) and I still sit there and scratch my head at some of it.

I am disappointed that you didn't have Laputa under Miyazaki though *pouts*

Again, please go easy on me - I've only leart this stuff through Megatokyo and since Largo left there's been a lot less of l33t - lot more of Erika though (niccceee).

Um, regarding earlier I went to my local anime club today and we saw the first few eps of DNAngel - and I can see why many will like it, but not quite my cup of tea - I couldn't help but yell 'Perv!' everytime Dark was holding some teenage girl's hand or kssing her and then one went and called him it anyway - I am vindicated. :D

Good to see your into megatokyo...I loved it so much, I bought all 3 volumes (cant wait for #4!!!)

Your a member of an anime club (I need a car so I can go to one in the city...i dont have one here...unless I started it XD). You seem to know a lot about anime, and not just about shows. How long have you been into anime? I wish I could devote more time to it myself. I just got into it some time last year when a friend of mine showed me full metal alchemist. I did however start my anime collection with the first DVD from the show called "Mezzo" (a very good action anime if you dont mind it showing some skin from time to time).

Well thats it from me...I just wish I could be as much into anime as some of the people I know.

I don't know about the anime but I love love love! *_* *_* *_* the manga for DNAngel. It isn't as perverted as the anime...or so I've heard and it looks so much nicer in black and white than in color (comparing cover to the pics inside....yep a lot better inside) (Dark cannot not not! have purple hair! :arg: :arg: It looks wrong!...Well...not wrong...but weird...) Yep that's my rant for the day....

It's a knock-on from the events of December 9th when my account got deleted by a phpbb error - this account that you're looking at is a new one, but my post count and rank went back to 0. My old account for some reason went to 9 posts.

My total post count is now approaching 2000 though, and ERynn and VChat have promised to merge my two accounts together soon.

On the subject of Anime, I'd like to add two new series to my favorites;

LAST EXILE
In a world much like our pre-victorian society, two great nations battle with chivalry, warring for supremacy from immense flying dreadnoughts. All combat is overseen by The Guild, a decadent organisation which controls the distribution of technology and has the power to destroy either of the two armadas in a second.

Away from the combat two teenage orphans, Claus and Lavie, make a living by delivering messages and packages in their 'Vanship', a small dragster-esque aircraft. When charged with delivering a small girl to the sinister battleship Silvana, both soon find themselves embroiled in a three-way conflict in which they want no part, and struggling to unravel a mystery and conspiracy of centuries - what is Exile?

Last Exile is a real gem - combining well-drawn and developed characters with stunning CGI work - as you watch aircraft the size of the Titanic rain death down upon each other you can't help but draw a breath. It also creates an intriguing world to backdrop this action, with politics and leaders straight out of the Napoleonic wars, while also keeping it's hand firmly in the sci-fi barrel.

Watch it, your life will be better for it.

CHOBITS
Hideki's life is full of problem - he's 19, a virgin and has just moved to Tokyo to swat for his college exams - suffice to say he's failing.

What he also wants is a Persocom - PCs built in human form and capable of motion, communication and simulating human behaviour and emotion at a very sophisticated degree. Unfortunatly the price-tag goes into 6 digits, and our protagonist decides he'll have to do without, despite his dreams of e-mail, online shopping and access to Porn Sites (a recurring theme of the show).

Until he discovers a persocom in the trash and takes it home. The machine in question, Chi, is in the form of a cute girl, but appears to have had her memory wiped, and incredibly is operating with no OS software.

The story revolves around Chi learning anew about her world, Hideki's growing feelings for her, and also the mystery of her origins.

The show is weak on plot but very strong on tone and character. Comedy is also strong along with a surprising degree of 'gag pervesity' (look at Chi's costumes and you'll see what I mean - she also likes 'learning' from Hideki's girly magazines or 'yummies') - it's also incredibly sweet and charming. Chi and her persocom friend Sumomo are noteworthy of the last criteria. I find this cheers me up supremely when I'm feeling down, and for this aspect alone I'd give it a 7.5/10.

LOVE HINA (manga)
This is a very well-known series, revolving along the same premise as Chobits - gawky, awkward college wannabe arrives in Tokyo, falls into repeat funny situations.

In this case our 'hero' is Keitaro Urashima, who made a promise 15 years ago to get into Tokyo University with the one girl who's ever liked him. Problem is he's been so obsessed with getting into Tokyo U he's completely forgotten said girl's name!

As our story starts Keitaro's found himself some lodgings in the Hinata Inn, owned by his granny. Unfortunatly Granny's gone off on a world-tour and left him as landlord - and the Hinata house has become a girls dorm packed with rowdy females - Kitsune (an alchoholic with a diesel libido), Motoko (a swordswoman tom-boy who struggles with her femininity), Koalla Su (a hyper-active genius with a bottomless stomach), Shinobu (a shy pre-teen with a crush on Keitaro) and Naru - a gorgeous example of the female species who just might be the girl of Keitaro's dreams. Maybe they'll go to Tokyu U together and live happily ever after...

If she doesn't kill him first.

Love Hina is wonderful - filled with comedy, a strong central plot line and completely unafraid to dive into extra story-arcs to flesh out it's characters, who are all likeable and well-developed (within certain limits - Su will never stop being hungry and Keitaro will accidentaly perv out on the girls ever issue).

I've seen some of the anime and it's weak in comparison - instead try the 14-issue manga and enjoy - ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!

I'm not a huge fan of anime or manga (I prefer western animation), but there are a few mangas I read pretty regularly.

Case Closed
Sergeant Frog
Apocalypse Meow
Chobits
Budda
My sister continually refers to Willam Dunbar as "The Hot Canadian Zombie Guy."

I think this is the greatest nickname in the world.

Wow, I've never posted in here?! o.O

Anywho, my favorite animes would probably be...

Tenchi (in all its glory. My favorite was Universe, and I'm watching GXP on dvd... :D )
Rurouni Kenshin
Ghost in the Shell
.hack//SIGN
RahXephon (occasionally)
Full Metal Alchemist (occasionally)
Case Closed
Um... does IGPX count?

and I'm sure there's more that I can't think of right now. I really really want to see some new ones-- I've been dying to get my hands on an Excel Saga manga/dvd since it sounds awesome but I haven't been able to >.>

Not to mention every time we go to a Media Play/Borders and I ask my mom/dad if I can get something, tbey always go "didn't you just get one of those?" and I go "ugh. NO." and they go "well we didn't come here for that." And don't tell me about my own money. I had some, but she took it all, claiming that I needed to "help out." :whatever:

Technically I'm old enough to get a job (14... well in Ohio I am) but my dad wants me to work at Kroger since he works for the company in the office building. I like REALLY don't want to work there. lol
