This has been asked before and as the mods will tell you I recommend using the search function to see if a similar thread already exists before creating one.

As for what XANA stands for it's never explained- however XANA is the name of a department of Moonscoop which might be the explanation.

Personally, I think it means: Experimental Advanced Networking Applications or something like that.

Again, it's always better to post in an existing thread than to start a new one, as it really spams up the boards.

Cheers and I hope I didn't sound like a jerk.

thank you, I did figure it was a repeat, but I did not try the search, because most of the forum I go to disabled the search feature for some reason.

I did not know XANA is a department of Moonscoop

PS: I looked up moonscoop site, and found that XANA was the postproduction department

It could also be short for Xanadu, which was the name given to the virtual world in the original Garage Kids pilot. Xanadu is probably most relevent with Kubla Khan's summer capital in China and its meaning is an idyllic, beautiful place, which is what Hopper meant for Lyoko to be when he decided to make it his and Aelita's new home.

Um... I thought Hopper made Lyoko to combat Project Carthage. Or was that XANA? :umm:

Did you find that out, or did you make that up.

I think you made it up because "Xtensible" is spelt Extensible. Plus I think in the French version X.A.N.A. is called Z.E.N.A. so maybe there isn't a real meaning.

No...he's XANA in the French version too. The transcripts at LyokoCode prove that much. I think it's just the way the French pronounce the long "a" sound that might make it sound like that. Plus, that would probably get them into trouble for slight trademark infringement because ZENA would sound too much like Xena. ^^;

Um...the letter "X", when placed at the front of a word is usually pronounced with a "Z" sound. Other examples (there's one actually) would be:

Xylophone (Zy-lo-fone)
Xerox (Zeer-roks)
Xavier (Za-vi-er)

And there's many others that I could list...most of them can be found under the "X" section in a Dictionary. Besides, how else would you pronounce "XANA" if not with a "Z" sound in the beginning? ^^;

Here's an interesting fact: There is no word in the french language that starts with X. So it would either have to be just a cool name or an english acronym or that of another language.

Actually...that's untrue. The French word for Xylophone is "Xylophone". I believe the French have also borrowed our word "Xerox" to use as slang for paper copies. But there are definitely words that begin with "X" in the French language.
