I was homeschooled from preschool to 31/2rd grade, but then I went to a school after that. I have two friends who are currently being homeschooled now though.
thank you all for the good memories <3

I never was and I'm glad of it. I knew a girl who was homeschooled, but she decided she wanted to go to high school. However, our school didn't recognize the books her mother had used. So, even though she was in tenth grade with us, because the school didn't give her credit for the homeschooling she didn't have any credits at all going into tenth grade. To make up for it, she had to go to the tech school where the classes are super easy and you can get several more credits than you can at the high school.

The other reason I'm glad I wasn't homeschooled: you miss out on a lot of stuff when you don't go to an actual school. You miss out on a lot of opportunities to meet other kids and make friendships. And what about any friends you might have from your neighborhood that talk to you about some cool thing they're doing at school? Like a talent show or something. You don't get to do or watch stuff like that if you're not in an actual school.

So I myself will never, ever homeschool any children I might one day have.

Exactly! I mean, it sorta messes them up too. Homeschooled kids are weird. >>;

No, homeschooled kids are not weird! I have a friend who's homeschooled, and she's one of the greatest people I've ever met!

I always prefered isolation, so homeschooling wasn't difficult for me to adapt to.

I think that comment is kinda mean, YDV. You're classifying all home schoolers as weird.
I bet you'd object if I said "All public-school kids do drugs and sleep around".
I am offended by your comment. I ask that you have a more open mind about people. If you're a public school student I don't think you can offer an opinion towards home schooling since you've never done it.

I've done both public and home school.

I'm home schooled, but only from my second semester of my freshman year to now. I'm a junior now, and I'll be going back into public school for my senior year. I'm taking one class at the high school currently.

I think home schooling is an excellent way for a child to take charge of his education and learn about what interests him.
I'm taking classes through Alpha Omega, and if I graduated with them I'd get a diploma (but I'll graduate with the local school).

I have all ways had problems with people, but home schooling has helped me to focus on my school work and not have to deal with boyfriends/girlfriends, unfriendly students, temptations and all that stuff.
As a Christian, home schooling has helped me focus on my relationship with God. I go to youth group and sunday school and my youth group gets together about twice a month and we play Christians and Communists and play games and have loads of fun.

I think home schooling is a way to focus on yourself and your education.
I like it, but I also need to have more socialization, which is why I'm going back to public school.

So THAT's why I am weird. I was homeschooled from 3-5 grade (skip fourth).
What will you remember me for?

I hated the kids at my school, but I wouldn't have wanted to be taken away from them all to be schooled at home. Even though I had a crappy time at public school, I'd still have much rather been in school than have been homeschooled.

As for focusing on education being easier at home: I have no idea what kind of high school you could go to, but it must be pretty bad if you can't focus on work there. I rarely ever had to take any homework home because I got it all finished in school. And it's not like I all my time in the Library or something. I actually work better when there's a lot of people and noise around me. Either noise doesn't help you, or you have a problem with concentrating on one thing and blocking out another.

And as for coursework: My school offered things that I wanted to take while I was in high school. I took a great home-ec class, a Shakespeare class, a class on sci-fi and fantasy, anatomy, statistics, and I took 3 years of Spanish. And it's not like I went to this gigantic inner city school; my school had less than 400 kids and was in a small town. Anything more specialized that I want to take, I can take in college.

YD, was wrong to say that homeschooled kids are weird, but I stand by what I said before in that you miss a lot of opportunities when you're homeschooled. It's better to be in public schools.

I think that homeschooling is pretty sweet (sometimes), but on the other hand, you miss out on a lot of things like seeing friends or special school events. You get to be more socialized. And also, I just can't stand being in my house all day!! I have to get out or I start to go nuts!!!
