Anime/manga to recommend?

Postby Alex » Sat Apr 08, 2006 10:45 pm

I'm a n00b when it comes to anime and manga; all I've seen is .hack//SIGN, bits of some that were on G4 (Last Exile, Betterman, and Abenobashi), Love Hina which I saw at a friend's house, and a complete set of Chobits episodes I found on the Net one day... I've read only a little manga.

Anyone want to suggest anything really good that I should look for in the future? I have something of an acquired taste for CLAMP (after seeing Chobits, I was hooked), and I liked Love Hina.

Watch Samurai 7. Awesome as heck anime. However, I gotta warn you, it's one of those "giant robots meets feudal Japan" animes. So if stuff like that irks you... Yeah.

Fruits Basket is pretty cool also. I've seen a dozen or so episodes of Full Metal Alchemist, and I like that too (it's really popular).

For CLAMP, if you liked Chobits then you might like Angelic Layer (although it's a bit more girly) since the two are linked in several ways, or you might like Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle...

Bleach is pretty good too...

And oh yeah, if you've seen .hack//SIGN then the other .hack titles would be good too :3

I've already started Angelic Layer, and I'm liking it so far, though it's somewhat weird (not that Chobits wasn't!), and I'm waiting until I finish another CLAMP series or two before I tackle Tsubasa, since it's stuffed full of CLAMP characters.

Bleach... never heard of it. I'll look it up later.

Well, what are your interests....

I watch Azumanga Daioh. It's just a funny "A day in the life of" show. You can buy it at Best Buy for like $40.

The Manga is excatly the same.

If you like Azu then theres the Manga Yotsuba&!(Yotsubato) it's by the same guy, same kind of idea. Azu is rated 13+. Yostubato is rated for ALL.

Hi Neodude! :hello:

My personal recommendations for anime and manga are on this other thread that started a few months ago.

http://www.lyokofreak.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=727

I don't want to sound like a jerk (and I really hope I don't upset you in any way), but it might be an idea to continue this thread over there and thus not violate the rule on having multiple threads for the same topic.

All the best and sorry again, my fellow Anime-niac! :D

Wakko vs TB3, FIGHT!

And in other news, it seems I may very well have to rally against ye olde tyrants. ;)

OLD! I'm 19! :D

In all fairness though, please try and follow the rules, especially since Lyokofreak's birthday is coming up soon.

Nice to meet you btw (proceeds to kick Wakko's @$$, then locks him back in the tower with Yakko and Dot) :*D

Ah, yes, thank you, TB3! This thread is really more or less like that one...and that one has quite alot of manga and anime to choose from already on it, so this one is most certainly a duplicate.

In the effort of not sounding completely like a broken record..."Search Feature; Please use it first". ^^;

Locking. :)
