Did you ever notice the first image that shows yumi and Ulrich being pushed togethor by Odd and Jeremie? Even their relationship was heavily emphasized in the Garage Kids days!

yeah, I had noticed it on my DVD (owner of all three ^_^) and then I watched the garage kids video and saw it.

I always thought we all knew that. The show is mainly about their friendship, ala Everybody Loves Raymond and the family's secret caringness.
