I am surprised that Mewberries ignored the cursing at this thread, given that she cares a lot more about CL Discussion than I would (she's a CL fan to death, more than I am).

Chosen_one, next time if you curse here, use the f***ing "*", understood? (Sorry for rudeness, I just cursed to give you an example of how to use the * on words)

And if they Americanize this thing, it might go downhill...

Okay, sorry about that. Everything goes downhill when they're Americanized; I personally think that "un monde sans danger" is a very sophisticated phrase describing a paradise, whereas "make evil go away" (the one that replaced "un monde sans danger" in AWWD) is a very childish phrase as if one were saying "Daddy, this man is mean! Make him go away!"

When things are Americanized, they just don't sound right.

We could do a petition...of course, those things never, EVER work. (And they don't care about our opinions, because 78% of us are above the demographic) I made that up on the spot.

I think we should just take it in stride. And if it sucks, blame Jamie Kellner. I think.

I am inclinded to agree with you on this, however there is a problem - have you ever tried fitting 'World Without Danger' into the song - it won't, because of the language difference.

Let's consider the beat of that line.

Une. Monde. Sans. Dan. Ger - 5 beats, 5 syllables

Make. Evil. Go. A. way - 5 beats, 6 syllables - though evil is actually two syllbales in the song it is compressed into one to fit.

A. World. With. Out. Dan. Ger - 6 syllables, none of which can be compressed

Now as it is 'Make Evil Go Away' does sound a little silly, but it is energetic and lively and suits the song.

And this is not just for Americanisation - any kind of translation changes the song. For example here's the version of UMSD heard in the Welsh Dub, a literal translation.

"Little world in a mess
Under lashings and before long
The whole world will, in a day indeed
Be in great danger and for now
The coming day will be long

A brave banner
Symbolic in it's truth

CODE: LYOKO
We are the Holy Ones and Strong

CODE: LYOKO
Our noted team will crest

CODE: LYOKO
And deny the black wave

CODE: LYOKO
In us together there's hope."

Now that sounds crap, however when heard in the Welsh language it sounds just fine, as this link shows.

I'd also point out that in China the show is called 'The Fastest Team on the Net' or something like that.

Americanization is a word with very loose definitions, just keep that in mind.

In China, The Smartest Kids on the Net is the official English translation, although the title (至Net奇兵, Zhì Net Qí Bīng) literally means "Smart Kids on the Net."
