Most of what I was going to say has already been covered. (No point repeating it.) But I wish you the best of luck with your parents and your new religion.

Yes, agreed. -.- My mom still thinks I'm going to instantly become an atheist at any moment just because I questioned some of the Christian beliefs. -shrug- I don't know that I follow anything but Zen.

But, your religion is your choice; outside influences shouldn't hold a power over you. That's one of the cons of having parents; you're force-fed a system of thinking that can be hard to break. As a result, I think that some people don't fully realize their physical, psychological, etc. abilites. If they're pinned down by parental influence, it forces a way of thinking and it lowers the value of a genuine thought or belief that strays from the parent.

Of course, that in itself is a result of our parents' parents. x.x;

Okay, done ranting.

Point being, it's awesome that you've found something you can believe and put your faith and trust in, under your own decisions.

I didn't intend for it to sound that way. O.o; But...I have a healthy fear of my parents. I don't really put it past them to throw me on the street if I don't adhere to their religion.

My mom...she hates anyone that isn't Christian, criticizes them, gossips about them...it makes me sick.

I know people like that. Here's what I said to one of them (it worked...it may not work for your mum...just an example) "Does God/Jesus accept everyone, no matter what religion they are? If you want to be like God, why are you being so closed minded?"
I dunno if that helps...it did for me...but...*shrug*

I have also been a cristian all my life, but I also believe that it is important to follow your own path, and follow your heart. Do not let others tell you who you are because they do not know. Do not let your mother rule you because she is her own person and not you. Also you and Anthony both know about my others yet I am still Catholic, I believe that as long as you have something to believe in then that is what is important. You can only do what is best for you; do nothing more then that. To quote a song if you want to be you be you, end quote. That is all you can be, be the best you can and no other. I hope that this sheds a little light on it although I must admit my parents don't know about my *friends* and I would never change my religon because I feel safe in it and I do believe; however I believe that we must be open to other religons. I do not believe that there is one religon or one god to follow. There are many different sources of religon, just to believe in something is the important thing. Good luck Fae.

just so you know, you are about a year late to this topic and I don't think I am being too presumptuous when I say, please check the date of the last post on a topic and don't go digging up old threads, seeing as it usually constitutes spam.

^^; Quite right, unfortunately.

BillyGirl, I know you're still relatively new here, but...if you could, please don't necropost as it is considered spam here. Also, since I think this might be your second run-in with spam...might I also suggest that you re-read the rules of the forum...just so that you know them for sure. I realise that LF has a few unique rules for itself, but it is very important that you know them.

Thanks very much. :)

Locking.
