The Evolution of X.A.N.A.

Now, we all know X.A.N.A. is a pretty smart being. But hopefully, some of you have noticed that he wasn't always like that. He used to be almost, uh...well, oblivious to human traits. For example. At first, the only emotion X.A.N.A. understood was anger (see Teddygozilla when he's listening to Milly.) And he obviously got revenge of Sissi for her. In Image Problem, X.A.N.A. manages to create Yumi. As seen with the YxJ scene, XANA has some, but very little understanding of love. Throughout Season 1, XANA becomes extremely "informed", if you will, about the Real World and even manages to create a fake Earth for the Lyoko kids to be at his mercy. Still, XANA's Earth has some flaws. (people repeating what they say/do, fizzing out, ect.) But throughout season 2, XANA gets more powerful and has a better understanding of human emotions. This can expecially be seen in XANA's Kiss and somewhat in St. Valentine's Day where he toys with the kids emotions and lovelives to split up the group.

Well, we know that the computing power of the Supercomputer goes up with RTTP's. Given that in almost every episode, they launch a Return to the past, it would make sense that while XANA may not have been able to feel the emotions when he started, his rapidly-increasing intelegence provided him with the ability to feel and understand more as the seasons go on. Thus, the complex emotional plots in the second season and the simplistic ones in the first.

IN short, More RTTPs make XANA smart enough to understand emotion.

This is, of course, assuming that XANA is male. He could be female or have no gender (being a computer).

Oh, that could end up being like Dreamcatcher, then. The whole time, the main villain is tempted by human emotions, and the only ploy that remotely works on him is the temptation to go native.

Except, you know, without the sucky, WTF? ending.

It's a good thing XANA couldn't do the possession thing in Season 1. He'd probably end up clutching his head and screaming about how it "wasn't logical" or some such.

No, I think that he could possess humans in S1. He possessed one prior to that, then spent the next several years in therepy after looking inside Jim's mind.

Hehe - as you say, XANA has evolved - we noted this in another way in LTT - there is a linear progression to how he used his scanners.

1st STAGE
Using the spectres to build on an existing framework - TeddyGozilla

2nd STAGE
Using the spectres to move an object - Log Book

3rd STAGE
Using the spectres to actually 'build' something - Girl of the Dreams (limbs for the samurai armour)

4th STAGE
Possessions

5th STAGE
Coupling the data from stages 1-3 along with the knowledge of human physcology gained from Stage 4, and you get all that's needed for XANA's most subtle attacks ever - the Polymorphic Clones

It could do a lot now that it's out of the computer. At one point, is XANA evolves enough, it could probably create two profiles so to speak. One it can let the group know after a while is XANA but the other it can use to get close to them. Close enough to become a member of the group. Sort of like, eating them inside out. Ok...that sounded gross....anyway, also I forget. Is XANA the computer or the virus that infected the computer?

Xana is a program that was created for a specific purpose, but it got out of hand and developed its own thoughts...so technically Xana is a virus.

the computer is just what he happens to live in..so they refer to him being the computer..but technically by all accounts he is like a windows 95 virus with a brain...bwahaha. but now he happens to be a smart windows 95 virus with a brain.

Xana was the AI in the modorator's seat. Franz took over the modorator's seat when XANA left. Wll Hopper become Evil? Was it a vires/flaw in coding/old evil Moderator, (I apologise to all mods out there, but this is the closest tirm Ican find.) that made XANA become evil, or somthing els?

I sort of doubt that. Sure, it's POSSIBLE. but we don't really know.

My theroy is that XANA was sabotaged by a jelous co-worker from project Carthage, and that sent XANA over the edge.

hey wait, on youtube i saw a preview of series 3 and it showed the scypozoa (if dats how u spell it) absorbed Aelitas memory, then after that, lyoko shut down and in everything turned dark even sector 5!

Im still wondering why he needs her memory so much
