That wouldn't work - DNA alone will not give you a replica of the person as they were prior to scanning, you need a full molecular scan.

Probably not, I reckon it's fictional myself.
And re what was said earlier - I doubt the computer zips incoming data from the scanners, because:
A: That data has to constantly be open for access
B: It seems unsafe to add yet another data-manipulation stage to the transfer proceedure.
