I remember having a thread like this on the old TV Tome and I thought it was a really neat thread idea...I'm not exactly sure if CL discussion is the best place for it (since it could go off topic really fast) but I hope no one minds if I do.

In any case...I just saw the movie so...(no spoilers given, I promise)

Howl's Moving Castle

Sophie: Yumi
Calcifer: Odd
Markl: Millie
Witch of the Waste: Sissy
Witch of the Waste's Coachmen: Herb and Nicholas
Turnip-Head: Theo
Madam Suliman: Aelita (the only character I think she could play, not counting Sophie)
The King: Jeremie (again, by default...I can't think of anyone else for him)
The Former Magicians: Any and all of XANA's monsters...or XANA spectres...
The Dog (I think it was called "Hin"...can't remember ^^; ): Kiwi

Oh. Is it anything like The Muppets? That's the only thing I can think of when I hear the name Jim Henson.

It was in that it used Muppet-like characters that were operated in the same way all of Jim Henson's muppets were. It's kind of like the Muppets in that it was humorous...but more designed for kids, I believe (as The Muppet Show was actually more for adults originally).

I rather like Jim Henson's "lesser known" works (although I do love his best known Muppets and Sesame Street (which he originated)). "The Dark Crystal" is one of my all time favorite movies. That's one of his darker works, and it's very good...hmmm...ought to think of a CL casting for it for here.

Fizzgig: Kiwi (he'll have to do)
Ogra: Yumi (and she will totally, absolutely, shoot me for it ^^; )
Skeksis Leader: XANA (I guess...he's the only true villain really)
Chamberlain: Herb (default...I couldn't think of anyone else who fit it any closer...and it would be mildly amusing to hear him go "Hmmmmmm"; maybe Sissi could do it...that would change the character a little though...)
Podlings: Random students (take your pick)
Gartham: XANA monsters

(I have no clue where Odd or Ulrich could come in as no other character really fits them. I also have no idea who could play the Wisest Mystic, The Skesis Emperor or any of the other Skeksis and Mystics...and Odd and Ulrich don't really fit any of those parts. I could make them the two Landstriders as those were my favorites, but those meet a kind of unfortunate end so maybe not...and it was a boy and girl pair at that (there's a baby landstrider too, which is the clue). So it's not a complete cast. The Jen/Kyra castings work though. )

Baby Sinclair: not sure; Herb for immaturity, Odd for oddness...
Robbie Sinclair: Ulrich (although this would make him and Sissy brother & sister...)
Earl Sinclair's boss: the Principal

The best character to put for Mrs. Sinclair would be Yumi, but the idea of Jim married to Yumi is a bit hard to stomach...

Della Robbia fits better, he can also be inmature, but Herb can't be odd.

*blinks confused* How do I know about Fraggle Rock or how do I know about The Dark Crystal? Or do you mean how do I know about Jim Henson's works in general? ^^; Actually, the simple answer is that it's probably because I watched (and still watch) way too many movies and televisions for my own good. ^_^

The hardest thing would be picking a Chandler Bing. I'm going for Theo, unless someone finds a better Chandler. Ulrich sucks for Chandler.
