Perhaps his close proximity, plus the bond he felt with Yumi, opened up a tiny link to the supercomputer and his mind.

Of course, that gets into Souls, and here we are dealing with facts and theories.

Incidentally, is there a way Jeremie could "Accidentally" virtualize William to another dimension and say, leave him there? Forever? Please? (is running out of hope.)

Well well well.

William - hmm.

The jury is still out on this one - I've got the gears rumbling in my mind now, but I don't want to commit to a theory until we see the final episode, and possibly talk to Jerome or Sophie..

Either way, it was a good episode! :)

Rob... you’re partially right.

How it works is that the supercomputer is able to generate and hold Tachyons (particles that travel faster than the speed of light and thus move backwards in time) around it. When an RTTP is triggered, the supercomputer scans the brains of the kids (or anyone who has been scanned via the scanner) and makes an exact copy of their mental imprints up to the moment that the RTTP is fully triggered.

The computer then encodes the mental scans as a snap shot as well as other data (the XANA attack and whatnot) in to a pattern using the Tachyons, so that the data travels back in time (things traveling faster than the speed of light travel back in time according to the theory of relativity). They travel to a selected point in the past, the tachyons (which have an effect on the quantum filed that the supercomputer produces and reads) so that it produces a pattern that the supercomputer reads and is able to use this data to prevent the XANA attack and rewrite the kids memories to remember future events.

The White Light of the RTTP is Time resetting. It's basically the universe ripping away and what we see is Zero Point Space underneath (or so I understand)

About your theory on how Aelita's mind was stuck on Lyoko during S2... I don't think so. I (and TB3) think it's more that the SAP (Special Anomaly Passage) that allows the super computer to read the kids’ minds and copy the imprints for a RTTP can be bidirectional. In the Case of Aelita, Xana had part of her memory, and while she couldn't access it, she was still connected Via the SAP... and as such, if it went so did she. The same happened in Temporal Insanity; XANA was feeding them data (or wrote a program to do so) that gave them the altered perceptive, via the SAP

With Ulrich in 'Nobody in Particular', I think that was completely different as his body and mind were complete separated I think.

Some Might remember me as Chupathingy form TvTome many a year ago

From Red VS Blue Episode 2

Sarge: Hey Simmons, what’s the name of the Mexican lizard, eats all the goats?
Simmons: That would be the Chupacabra Sir.
Sarge: Hey Griff, Chupathingy, I like it. Got a ring to it.

Well, do you have any more evidence for your theory than I do for mine?

I think it makes more sense to say they are both effects of the same fact, about mind and body being seperate.

Lol, okay:

Evidence 1: The past 1700 posts - this stuff has been worked through, revised, researched, dabated etc MANY a time.

Evidence 2: The director likes our work :) (not trying to sound snobby, but Jerome really, really likes it - which I think is testemony to the effort made by the wonderful people here - you rule guys :thumbs up:)

Hope that helps - cheers and welcome!

I just went back over my notes of yesterday's epesode.....

For the past half a year, I have had *several* people tell me that XANA has no emotions; "XANA is just an AI" ext. Well, XANA sowed some definitive emotions, anger, hatrid, happyness.... (The "Evil grin"). My question is:

Can anyone still argue against XANA having emotions?

I think it is time to creat an emotional development time line. :D

Nah, Franz explicitly states in 'Aelita' that XANA was orriginally his creation, and that it gained self awareness. There's basically no chance it was orriginally a human.

Well that's impossible. Maybe someone snuck into the supercomputer and corrupted XANA.

I think that only part of XANA left the SC, and that the rest of him stayed inside. He will now atempt to distroy the rest of himself for whatever reason. :umm:

Not as impossible as it seems - we know that XANA is based off the same multi-agent system used by Jeremie to create the Marabounta - and that developed a certain 'awareness.'

In reality, Multi-Agent-Systems are used to simulate minds, and the generation of wants and desires, so in a sufficiently powerful computer such an MAS may well become sentinent, and remember that our supercomputer is 9.6 Trillion times more powerful than any other existant today.

Other factors though, such as XANA's reasoning ability and emotional capacity might require more than just powerful hardware - so is it possible that Franz scanned himself and tried to isolate the areas of the mind devoted to logic and reason, and factored that data into his MAS to create XANA - except maybe some other elements got carried over i.e. Franz's susceptibility to insanity.

This might explain XANA's emotional quirks and...'other' things - i.e. maybe it was FRANZ! who had the tentacle fetish, hence the Scyphazoa and the antics of those tree roots :P

Don't forget the "BackWash" (or whatever you would like to call it) TB3. When XANA poses a human- or an animal- He will gain an imprent of their personality. Thus, in seson one, XanaJer only showed primordal emotions, Ie. anger, hatred, and fear; which most liky origenated from the rats he had possed erlyer. As XANA moved on to posesing humans, his emotions became more complex and began to include joy, sadness, lust, sadnes, and depreshion (unconfurmed).

That's definately plausible: Franz Hopper and XANA's minds are both one and the same...

We've Already dicused this, Last time you agreed with me.

But if you want more evedence:

1. XANA's base personality has little understanding of more than basic emotions. He understands "Fear", as is evedent by his conversation with the lyoko kids in Gost chanal. He understands anger and hatred (kinda obvios). he also seems to have a rudementary understanding of pair bonding.

2. As he begins to poses people, we begin to notic subtle changes in his attacks, pointing to a better understanding of how the gang operates. In XANA's Kiss, he demonstrates that he has a near complet understanding of pair bonding, demonstrated by the use of the polymofic specter. In franz hopper, we see XANA's personality- more developed- He acts somewhat like a child with a new toy. His rang of emotions have developed, now including joy, demonstrated by his gloting.

3. In the third season, as he begins to poses groupes of people, the "back wash" efect would have been magnifide due to the larger amounts of data that needed to be prosed. I Duble Trouble, we see that XANA has a highly developed human-like personality, and he has a full understanding of group dinamics, demonstrated by his abilety to trick Odd, Yuim, and Aileta into the scanners.

.... In that latest eppesode (duble troble), he stops talking fragmentedly abot half way through...... did anyonenotice his stange speach paterns? :umm:

What I mean is that while I agree XANA can learn about human psychology from those he possesses, I doubt he actually retains part of their personality.

On another note, I've been emailing Madame Sophie, the show's script director and editor, and I asked about William last night, and why he remembered.

Sophie misinterpreted what I was asking (because stupidly I didn't list the episode title so she may have thought I was saying 'I just saw 'The Secret' and does William remember?), but her response was fascinating - she detailed that if one has been scanned, one is 'registered' with the computer and will remember events after an RTTP (which has been said in the show), and that if you have been virtualised, you develop a resistance to XANA attacks - as we prophesied, but have never been shown! XD

What I ment was that they don't leave part of their personality behind, but inorder to hadle the incoming data, XANA is fouced to deveolp his own.

Still, if he did leave an imprint of his personality on everyone he possessed, he would have at least partial controll over that person. Let's count the number of people he possessed: A lot. Coupled with the Men in Black, Principal Delmas, most of the student body, several teachers, a detonation expert, and a convicted criminal (not to mention who knows how many others that were never seen on the show), that would be a formidible force for the five lyoko warriors plus william. (I do NOT consider him part of the group!)

TB3 wrote:And er Tangent - we have another theory as to how the Heisenberg Principle factored into getting into Carthage.

Put simply, Franz could have put a firewall on Carthage's access that only a 'pure' data-stream can pass (or the transporter) - the avatars are full of tiny Quantum Data Errors (due to Heisenberg's Principle) which would make them stand out (this also ties into Phase Shifting and immunity/reistance from/to XANA Possessions) and thus get rejected.

So, by using the properties of ZPS as a Heisenberg Compensator, Jeremie was able to clear those bugs out and thus bypass the firewalls.

That's fine. :D As long as there is an explanation.

Though a completely unrelated question has been bugging me-
What limits are there to materializing things on Lyoko? It seems like Jeremy can't rematerialize a destroyed vehicle for some time afterward, and there should be something preventing XANA from covering every square inch of Lyoko with monsters.

Also, did anyone else notice the different Way Towers in the Ice Sector?
(yeah, the cool links in my old sig died. :( A few nerdy newish projects are here. )

And Jeremie can't revirtualize devirtualized people for a while.

I think it's memory limits.

As part of Lyoko's defence system, the way towers might actualy "move"(or switch funtions with other towers) when it's sector is threatend or other sectors are damaged.

.... TB3 might have a better explanation, though.

You. Emailed. The. Script. Editor.

You just love making us jealous....

EDIT: And please ask her how and why dead people don't come back after a RTTP. There's the other question I'd like to ask a script Editor/Director ('Can i have job?'), but various factors (Inability to speak French; no experience; I know my own luck) render it pointless
