Computer Problems.

Um...not that anyone knows or heard we had sort of/not really but we did have a tornado but we only got the wind thankfully. BUT, we had a power surge and my computer is totally FRIED.

I just wanted to know if it's possible to recover files. My computer still turns on but will blow up the whole basement if it's left on. Or just melt something.

But this is a rant too. ALL OF MY STORIES!!!! I worked 3 months on those chapters!!!! I'm not about to lose all my stuff! I mean I CRIED when I found out it was fried. (I don't even know why I was crying. It's just a computer...but all my work out the window!)

And then...my school work! How am I- well my teachers will take "My c
computer Fried" as a GOOD excuse.

Same thing happened to my sister while she was on a church mission trip last year. Powersurge fried the hard drive, and she had to get a whole new one. She lost everything, and no, there's no way to recover the files. Sorry!

yes, but you save a base outline on ff.net as a document. then you can edit it there.

And if the servers crash there, then they at least can recover it.

But I'm not exatly sure it fried the hardrive...there were a couple of things unusal when we tried to start it up. Like my old destop picture it was still there and if I'm correct that's supposed to be in the Hardrive.

But then the monitor went black so I couldn't do anything further. Plus sparks were shooting out of the outlet so we knew the computer was on it's last thread.

In that case, it might be possible to transplant the hard drive to another computer to get the files off of it. I'd still have someone look at it, because sparks flying out of anything is bad. Unless it's a flamethrower. Then it's still bad, but as long as you're holding it, you aren't getting hurt.

But I digress.

Someone either today or tomorrow will un-screw the hardrive, implant it into their computer and search for anything. So I'm just hoping.

Yeah... I don't really think your hard drive is fried... But if you want to boot off of it on another system then you might have to reinstall os and stuff... Really depends. I took an IDE drive from my old P2 system and tried to boot with it on my newer A64 machine... Result? Blue screen of death before the welcome screen.


Why not use a surge protector?

I had a surge protector. Turns out it didn't do it's job. The guy picked my PC up today. But he hasn't called. Maybe tomorrow he'll call. I've got the phone next to my pillow... (Seriously.)
