I totally didn't see that coming!! D:

...

Seriously, Viacom owns EVERYTHING. It's no wonder they'd go berserk. Probably hundreds of show clips were on there. Avatar, Spongebob, Invader Zim, music shows... good thing they don't own Japanese animation studios. 1N J00R F4C3!1one

It's interesting to know that clips from BBC shows might be on the site though, if I've read it right. :D Kind of a 'spreading culture' thing. Now everyone will discover the wonder of my favourite British comedies. x3

Thus is proof that BBC > Viacom.

I don' really mind. What I didn't like was that when they took the Viacom shows off, they took the Viacom AMVs with them.

Ah - the enlightenmight of the BBC makes me proud to be British! :)

Viacom (and other suers) might also want to consider the other reason people use Youtube as much as they do - A: We really like their content that we're uploading B: IT'S FUN!

Companies like this just begin to seem like killjoys after a while, especially if they refuse to accept the wave of internet commerce, just like the b***ards sueing the Russian MP3 websites.

Dang.

If they succeed in getting all of the programs taken off, guess I'm gonna have to resort back to downloading BitTorrents.

(Oh, and by the way, hi! It's been a while since I've been here. *glances around*)
Bang, baby.

The one thing I hated about Google buying YouTube is the fact that Google already has a video hosting site (aka video.google.com).
thank you all for the good memories <3

Which is why I hate them..

It' kind of there fault, I mean, they're the ones that allowed people to upload it onto a site and down load it, then upload it again.

YouTube allows downloads? What?!? WHERE?!?

Even if Viacom did sue and won (which I highly doubt) then it'll take them a long time for them to get rid of everything <s>(especially if they don't want a massive mob trying to kill them)</s> since I highly doubt that YouTube will be willing to cooperate in searching for ALL the videos that violate copyrights. And I doubt that Viacom has the patience to search thorugh everything. So if faithful users just don't report anything and keep on uploading during the timeframe of Viacom trying to take down everything, we can just annoy them to no end. I highly doubt (wow, I've said that a lot....) that Viacom will be willing to complelty shut down YouTube. The user reaction will not be pretty....

Well it's unfair to googleTube as it's not 100% their fault, they can't stop people from uploading illegal material unless they suspend accounts. Viacom are stupid to assume that google should have an program that scans videos uploaded with every single episode liscensed by Viacom, they're just greedy little punks.

... YAY! YOU'RE MY NEW BEST FRIEND!

Thank you so much for seeing the light.

And I agree. The idea of free video uploading is just too big, and unfortunately it's impossible to monitor every video.

In truth, Viacom is the one that's to bame. they started it.

I kind of saw this coming. I mean, people were uploading SpongeBob episodes and putting them on 2x speed and they were hilarious. Later that afternoon, when I go to show my brother, they took them down. This is one of those reasons that their getting sued because they're editing copyrighted material :arg: *tisk-tisk*

My main beef with Viacom is that they've purged stuff from YouTube that isn't theirs and haven't owned up to it.

A guy's 30-second home movie of a dinner gets purged for no apparent reason.

Thousands of non-Viacom videos taken off, but Viacom admits to "No more than 60" mistakes.

Special thanks to Super Robot Wars Genesis for grabbing the links in the wake of a Banpresto trailer (specifically, one for Super Robot Wars: Original Generations) being pulled and wrongfully attributed to Viacom.
My SN is spelled Feld, not Field. Keep getting it right, Carth.
I has opinions. On things.

actually your wrong, it is 100% youtubes fault because they are suppose to make sure no one is uploading copyrighted content to their servers, and Viacom has a legit legal standing to sue them because it's their content being shown for free. And it's not just viacom that has this right, WWE or TNA or hell even Moonscoop could demand the same course of action if they wanted too.

It was jsut a matter of time until YouTube got sued. Thats why those guys sold it to Google at the first chance they got.
