To be truly masculine, XANA would have to possess a "Y" chromosome.
To be truly feminine, XANA would have to possess a pair of "X" chromosomes.
Technically, it is neuter, as are all robots/AI's humanoid or otherwise.
The only reason that the notion of gender exists in these contexts is because they only look or sound like people.

Well, reading this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xana left me leaning towards female... but then, the mythology attached to the name doesnt even come close to our XANA... so it may not even be relevant... nevermind...

I hadn't ever considered a gender... it always seems that the whole "take over the world" deal is very male... and the monster designs and his behaviour also fit the bill.

Haha yeah. That book is funny. I tried watching Teddygozilla while reading the first book. They skipped a lot.

Xana is neither because s/h/it has no reproductive organs.

Except when s/h/it might. So I guess it depends who Xana is possessing at the time. But I don't believe that Xana has an inate sex or gender.

Computers can have genders- and names, such as my laptop Sven.
But I'm all for a genderless XANA. I don't think XANA can really be male or female.
(Though I did vote for the Zero Wing reference. MOVE 'ZIG'. FOR GREAT JUSTICE.)
