Well, we all know it's a budget matter and they don't use as many recycled scenes as before. And with all of Season 4 changes, the number will likely decrease even more.

Some scenes are good for reusing, like the virtualization scenes and stuff. After all, why reanimate the same exact thing for every episode? Pretty much every cartoon or anime has at least one clip that is reused a lot. Code Lyoko does tend to push the limit of reused scenes though. There are quite a few scenes that would have probably been better off had they been reanimated instead of reused. Then again, they've been cutting those down a lot lately, and season 4 is likely to decrease that amount even more.

I never really noticed it all that much. The only to I can think of are the skating in the sewers and the whole vertulization thing. And even then Moonscope has been attempting to break that up by adding extra parts to it - Like showing Odd doing a trick on his skateboard.

As an aspiring animator I always just retort... "Lazy animators..." But it is a lot of work and not that much time to make episodes, so I can undestand why they recycle old scenes, but it does annoy me from time to time.

I would say that it gets annoying, that they really should create some new scenes.
However, they are cutting down on it quite a lot.
Perhaps if this sort of thing really bothers people, I should never be an animator. I'm a very lazy person.
It never bothered me much except when it wasn't one of the factory scenes- like when it's a scene of them at Kadic and it just doesn't seem to fit with the mood or what's being said. This especially annoys me when the scene was used in a particularly angst-ridden episode and is reused in a lighter context. But it doesn't happen very much.

Ummm...Rodri...the writers and designers have nothing really to do with what scenes are re-used. The writers write the script and create the dialogue and the situations and actions. The designers design the sets, the characters and the props used in the script.

Scene re-use, I believe, is usually the choice of the art director (I think...I may have the wrong job title), and occasionally the animator or the editor (and usually the editor over the animator, since the animators just animate what they're handed to animate...if they're not told to create a new animation for something, it's usually not done).

Really, I agree with wartonchan in that there's not a lot of point to creating new animation for scenes that are going to happen in every episode in the exact same way (ie, the scanner sequence and some of the sewer sequences ). And...this may be going out on a limb but, scene re-use can be viewed as a stylistic or artistic choice by the director or producers of the show. After all, it is something we attribute as being a CL signature. ^^

Usually I'll just smirk and say "and where have I seen that one?" but when a scene has been used more than ten (even twenty?) times it's "why am I still seeing that one? D:" Seriously that Odd-gets-virtualised shot is so grainy compared to the others now!

Most people b*tch about the recycled scenes in Lyoko territory. But barely anyone complains about the scenes where we always see the same old process of TSV.

It's more understandable the complains of the recycling of the Lyoko scenes. The TSV are just for some fans like a "blah, get your butts into Lyoko already" moment.

As long as they don't do it too much I'm happy however I get rather annoyed when I find a got scene for one of my videos only to find it again a few episodes later.
Tarantula guarding a tower in the ice sector and shooting at odd while he circled it is one
and a hornet shooting a fallen Yumi after Ulrich stabs a hornet near her is also repeated except with a different background.
