Anyway, it's cool that you're going to Japan! I've never been to Osaka before (or have I?), but I know Tokyo Prefecture pretty well, or at least, I used to. If you're going to Tokyo, keep in mind that there is no actual "Tokyo City." They refer to the 25 or so wards of Tokyo as separate cities (e.g. "Shinjuku City"); I used to go to Shinjuku, which is part of Tokyo, every week… When I went to America, I asked my parents why they never took me to Tokyo City.
I know that on the Chuo line one of the stations is "Tokyo," but it seems that you can't get out of the station if you go there; you can only transfer to Yamanote line or some other train. If you get the chance, please tell me if it's possible to enter and exit Tokyo station!
