Well, I wouldn't know if she was born in "Autumn" persay...although that's pretty good conjecture. *nods*

But yes, Yumi means "Bow" or "Beauty" and Akiko means "Autumn Child" or "Bright Child".

Her father's name, Takeo, means "Warrior", I believe too. ^^

...Which might explain the samurai armor they've got in their house. ;D

Hiroki means "Abundant Joy/Strength". XD

Takeo meaning "Warrior" might explain why Yumi is a warrior herself.

Sissi's mother

Postby Taelia » Sun Jun 17, 2007 12:02 am

Okay...

What do you think think happened to Sissi's mother? What did she look like? What was her job? Did she die?

Well, as for Mrs. Delmas, we don't anything about her. However, because Sissi and her father don't share many features, we can assume that Mrs. Delmas looks/looked like Sissi. Jean-Pierre has never mentioned having a wife, so we can assume that either he never had one (In other words, Sissi could be a bastard) or the memories are painful and, like Jim, would rather not talk about it. However, Mr. Delmas seems very loving of his beloved Elisabeth, so we could assume that he was/is the same way to his possibly late wife. I have two theories about Mrs. Delmas

1: Mrs. Delmas is deceased. Because Sissi never mentions her mother either, it could be because she died while giving childbirth. Perhaps, because of the death of her mother, or never having a mother figure, is the reason for her contant negativity and anger. Perhaps Sissi never had someone to teach her to be "lady-like".

2: Mrs. Delmas is alive, but no longer Mrs. Delmas. Sissi's mother divorced Jean-Pierre. Because Jean-Pierre seems to be very concerned about his work, or trivial things such as a simple video game, (the penguin-head-spring-with-Pac Man-music game) Sissi's mother left him. Perhaps Mr. Delmas was given custody because he runs a school, thus providing a positive, educational environment.

Either way, because I assume Sissi and Mrs. Delmas are/were alike physically, they are/were alike in personality. Perhaps Mrs. Delmas, too, is/was interested in the latest gossip and fashions. Because Sissi seems so well off financially, we could assume that Mrs. Delmas, like her possibly ex husband has/had a well paying job, possibly in fashion design.

But this is all speculation, of course.

Both theories are wonderful! =D

I came up with an idea. In my CL universe, XANA has many powers. He perhaps has the power to resurrect the dead at will. Since XANA is in love with Sissi, thus he wants her happy. :)

Thanks! XANA and Sissi? Interesting...

And most (in fact almost all) of that was improv, but I wanted to contribute to all the fancy psychoanalyses (Plural of 'Psychoanalysis'?) and character dissection that's going on here...

Actually, I too believe that the Delmases are a rich family, hence Sissi's spoiled and snobbish attitude. For example, look at her clothes. They're a bit fancier than most of the other girls' outfits. And look at her father. He looks like a typical rich businessman in his 50s.

And I agree with you on the "Sissi's mother is dead" theory, and I have an update to it. Perhaps, if you think about it, Mrs. Delmas died when Sissi was starting school (kindergarten, maybe?), and her grief over her Mommy's death was so great that she turned into a stuck-up brat with few friends. :( I strongly sympathize with Sissi in this case.

well I don't want to sound cold but I don't think that's a good reason to be mean. I know two or three girls with dead parents and theyre not mean. but all the rich girls I know are mean.

I think Aelita's possibly one of the best characters on the show. She's the reason that I watch it.

She is certainly the character with the biggest backstory, we know more about Aelita than any other character. More on that later. I admire Aelita's courage and intelligence, even though she has a stubborn streak. And, at the same time, she is rather innocent, or at least she was. These seemingly incompatible traits somehow work with Aelita, making her an interesting character.

Ex Fabula Aelita*:
Antea and Franz Hopper lived in the mountains, where they had a single daughter: Aelita Hopper. However, at some point and for unknown reasons, Antea died or dissapeared and Franz and Aelita moved to the Hermitage. Franz worked on Project Carthage and later Lyoko, and was a science teacher at Kadic Academy. We do not know if Aelita attended Kadic. We know Aelita loved her doll Mr. Puck and riding her bike, or at least that she had those items. However, on June 6th, 1994 (the 2,546th or so) Franz and Aelita were virtualized to escape the Men in Black. Franz attempted to negotiate with XANA, but failed and shut down the Supercomputer. XANA stole the Key to Lyoko in Franz's memories, but for some reason, did not steal Aelita's, just the memories of her life on Earth.

For a decade, she lived on Lyoko, believing she was an AI once Jeremie awakened her. For a year, Jeremie struggled to materialize her, eventually suceeding. Later, we discover that she is Franz Hopper's daughter and she holds the remaining Key to Lyoko. XANA takes it after luring her to Lyoko, and escapes to "the Network", the Internet. Aelita is left for dead, but is ressurected using almost all of Franz Hopper's strength, and her memories are returned to her. She becomes a normal person, capable of using a weapon on Lyoko and being materialized normally. We know the rest.

Darn skippy! But I also love all the other characters. ;)

She's so cool and adorable, I have tons of affection for her. The good kind, too!

Wait a minute. When did we establish that her mother's name was Antea?
Was this in a recent episode I missed?

Regardless, I do agree with Planetcool. Aelita is also my favorite.

Yesterday, I had a thought about Jim, and I can't help but wonder what you'll think of it. You know how he starred in that "Paco, the King of Disco" movie that was a huge flop? I was thinking that maybe it's a parody of Xanadu, which, as you may or may not know, is also a failed disco movie. Due to the title, I think there may be some kind of underhanded connection here, a sort of gag from the writers. Do you think I'm on to something?

If you mean that movie with Olivia Newton John you could be.

As with before though, when was it established that her name was Antea?

I think Aelita is my favorite character now, for reasons already listed above by Lyoko422. Odd just doesn't make me laugh anymore. Sad, isn't it? After Aelita I would say my favorite character was the flirtatious Jeremie clone that only appeared once, and them Jim, because he's such a lovable oaf.
Interesting theories on Mrs. Delmas. I wonder if the show will ever touch on that, or Jim's past, or Ulrich's father... probably not. :whatever:

LyokoCode posted another interview they had with Ms. Sophie Decroisette at a CL event recently, and one of the things revealed was the first name of Aelita's mother.

You can read about it in this thread.

Skysong wrote:He's thirteen and he has a near-perfect grade average and an IQ probably in the 140s (120 and up means you are very, very smart).
I have an IQ of 147 and I am not nearly as smart as Jeremie. He probably has an IQ of 200 or above. (Sorry, I know that that was said very early in the thread; I just had to comment about it.)

Somehow, I believe that Aelita is from Canada. When asked by a teacher (I forgot if it was Jim or Mr. Delmas) to identify herself, the first thing she said was "I'm Odd's cousin from Canada." Coincidence? I think not.

Aelita is a Eastern European name. Having been born near the beginning of the Cold War (I read somewhere that Carthage's construction started in 1974 for the Cold War) to a father who worked for the French government, it seems unlikely that Aelita would have been given a Russian name. Unless, of course, one of her parents were Russian.

"Hopper" is an English (i.e. from England) surname, and Franz Hopper has a British accent. So we can safely say that Antea Hopper is of Russian or Eastern European descent. As much of Eastern Europe was under Soviet control during that time period, the only practical way for an Englishman to marry an Eastern European woman during that time is if the woman were a descendant of a family who immigrated to an immigrant country: in our case, Canada.

Now, I could be wrong, as my sources may be inaccurate. So please don't kill me.

I got a 133

very nice deduction, that definitely has some potential validity to it.

You managed to take every thing into account, besides the fact that Antea and Aelita's hair color is pink, but that has nothing to do do with it. :nyeh!:

They could be other. I know some Americans that are named Aelita.

Oh, and by the way, my IQ's 116 according to that test.

When Aelita first described herself to Jim, the first thing that popped into her head was "I'm Odd's cousin from Canada." Perhaps this is a bit of intuition about her past.

True that, but she was stuttering in "False Start", then Odd said that. She might have gotten the full line from Odd and studied it, but how did she change outfits so fast from her 6/6/1994 outfit to her Canadian outfit to her new wave-y outfit?

I design changes. Am I the only one who liked Aelita's season 2 outfit when it first came out?
