International Trailer

US Trailer

The trailers are awesome, mostly the International one. Let's hope they don't screw it up this time. I wanna read the 5th book before watching the movie, though.

Azkaban didn't just cut out parts. This time it actually screwed with the chronological order of events. I love the movies because I don't have to endure Rowling's arduous writing style. I hate them for cutting out so much. They need to make a Peter-Jackson's-LOTR-style three hour-long special extended edition for each, but that will never happen.

Goblet Of Fire was incredibly painful to watch.

I agree Azkaban was a screw-up, but nowhere near as horrible as Goblet Of Fire. I wish the actor who played Victor Krum dies.

Who the hell likes Victor Krum anyways? The guy's a piece of s**t based on the movie (didn't read 4th book), looks incredibly annoying as hell. I heard he'll show up by the 7th book. Let's hope Rowling axes him in a really painful way.

^^; Victor Krum is in the book too...which I highly recommend you read as the movie doesn't even nearly do it justice.

I don't mind Victor Krum, the character...but I don't like how they made him look in the movie...I was under the impression that he was supposed to have at least some hair on the top of his head. *sweatdrops* That and some of his funnier scenes were completely cut out of the film (mispronouncing Hermione's name, among other things)...so he came out as a very flat character (actually...all the other champions did in the film, with the exception of Cedric...and even then ^^; ).

I do give Goblet of Fire kudos for a clever little thing they put into their credits. At the end of the film, just below the SPCA announcement, they put the following:

"No dragons were harmed in the making of this film."

XD
"Hey, make up your mind. Am I a genius or a creep?"
"You're a creepy genius."

Regardless of reading the book, I want Krum dead, characther and actor.

It's true that the Potter movies screw up all of their caracthers. On Prisner Of Azkaban, if they had done the movie just like the book, Alan Rickman would be at least nominated for a Golden Globe. Instead, they butchered Snape on the third movie in a horrid fashion.

Goblet Of Fire also made Voldemort look like garbage. He's supposed to scare the hell out of people, not look like some old patient that came out from a hospital.

My least favorite movie was the Goblet of Fire. That one was (and is) my favorite Harry Potter book, because it had so many weird and interesting things and characters in it that the others simply lack, and in the movie they left out so many of the things I really enjoyed reading about (like the sphinx) and rushed through so many others. However, I voted for the Chamber of Secrets due to being so much more boring than the rest. The trailers for the new one look promising, though the book was considerably duller than the others. Here's hoping. I think I will go see it.

The original UK title was "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".

They changed it to "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone" when it came to America...for reasons I really can't understand. ^^;

It's the same stone (more or less) that is searched for in FMA though...albeit with a very different history and varying abilities.

They changed it 'cause they thought that people in America would not like the fact that it had things to deal with Philosophy and the like since when we see Philosophy, we would not tie it to magic. Thus, by changing the name to the Sorceror's Stone, it was a quick and easy bridge to magic and made people want to read it...

Or so I've read about that...

Ehh, the trailer looks really good for HP5, the book was slighty iffy. I dunno, I might watch it if I get the chance...

I'm surprised nobody here has talked about the movie.

I saw it last night. Pretty awesome and possibly the best Potter movie done out of the 5 flicks so far. The actress who played Dolores Umbridge stole the show IMO. Visually, this is a great movie. Except for a few things the writers and director may have screwed, this is a good movie.

I saw it, too, Makeyourself85, but it wasn't as good. I saw many things wrong with the film, with it not talking about religion. Please enter some Christianity in there, J.K. Rowling, not wizards!!

Harry Potter isn't ABOUT religion. If it was, it wouldn't exist. >_> *pictures Harry running around waving crosses at people*

IMO, it sucked. And many other people in the cinema I was in agreed. My expectations were low because the book had a lot of events in it, so it was a matter of seeing how well the book was dumbed down and which scenes they chose to cut out. One thing I liked was the effects in scenes like when the Weasleys' fireworks destroyed all the rules on the wall and when all the shelves in the Department of Mysteries collapsed. But the movie felt way too rushed and pretty choppy, what with them not going into detail for everything. My parents didn't understand half of what was going on, so I think it's hard to watch the movie without reading the book first. And they left out the whole hospital visit thing too. I wanted to see Umbridge go all crazy~ D:

I liked the way Luna was played though. She had a really spacey feeling about her, and just seemed really in character. <s>AND I OWN THE EXACT SAME SHOES SHE FOUND AT THE END xD</s>

I think the lesson for all Potter films is to expect it to be screwed up a lot. To make it workly decently or well done, it shoudl be turned into a TV series, where it can go chapter by chapter. It's a fairly decent movie and this movie was much better than the rubbish we saw on Goblet Of Fire and Prisioner Of Azkaban.

Umbridge and Luna were done greatly IMO.

Lol.

I'm gonna see it tonight, so I'll leave my review about it later. I hope it'll be good, though, I liked book 5.

From the previews I've seen, I would agree with you. Except they forgot Luna's glasses
It supprised me how well they did Umbridge, I think she is one of the best done characters in the movies so far.

I heard that they really f-ed up the ending, as in getting the chain of events wrong that led to...well, you shold know the spoilers if you're reading the thread, but you know what I mean. Anyway, I'm seeing the movie Friday evening before camping out (not really, but I expect a wait of a good two hours) for the last book.

I've only read the first four books and seen the first four movies, and I must say that the Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire both suck equally because the project switched directors. :| If they had kept Chris Columbus on the project, it would no doubt be a fantastic series.

Too bad it sucks now.

The fourth movie is the worst.

Please enter some non-stupidity into your brain, and thank you for not pollutiing others should you not. It's a flippin' book and not a very good one at that.

Speaking of it not being good, maybe someone here can explain this to me, because honest to God this is the reason why I think the whole series sucks and why J.K. can't write her way out of a paperbag.

Potter's foster family hates him. They don't buy him new clothes. They make him sleep in a closet. They mock him at every turn. So why in God's name did they decide to take the darn orphan in? They could of all soooooo easilly just said NO when the state came to drop him off. Even better, just put him up for adoption. They don't like him, why spend the money to feed him? Doesn't make sense. So what if the mom his Potter's late mom's sister? She freaking hates him, her parents and her sister.

Okay heres another, then the letter comes and the people jsut freak and become determined not to let Potter go to the academy. This makes no sense WHAT-SO-EVER. Here it is, the golden freaking ticket. They can be done spending money feeding this schmuck but no, they go out of their way to spend even MORE MONEY trying to run from the letters and the guy with the beard shows up to take Potter away and they still fight for seemingly no reason.

MAKE UP YOUR BLOODY MIND JK! DO THEY CARE ABOUT HIM OR NOT?!?!

Seriously I read halfway threw the first book and stopped just because of that... well that and why in god's name would you eat a bag of every flavor jelly bean? Flippin' A! What flavors today? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Gasoline! Human Feces! Arsenic! YOUR MOM! *shudder* Theres more negative then positive there. Why would you do something that causes you pain? bleh.
