Just Can't Get Enough

Chapter 1:
A door slams, a cat screeches, and a low wind rustles the dried fall leaves on the ground of Kadic Academy. A young boy about 13 runs through and crunches those fallen leaves, his blond hair flying everywhere as he tries to catch up to his friends. Never one for athletics, he wasn't very fast. They reached a secluded area in the park, only too familiar to them, and looked down. There, like always, was a sewer door that the others opened as Jeremy caught up. One by one, they climbed down into the sewers, each grabbing either a skateboard or a scooter and riding deep into the tunnel. Upon reaching a latter, they stopped and climbed up onto a bridge. They ran into a run down factory connected to the bridge. Reaching ropes, they slid down, Jeremy being the last down, was also the last into a conveniently placed elevator and pressing the down button as the elevator doors closed.
“You guys get to the scanners fast!” Jeremy said to his friends. “We need to deactivate the tower quick, or we'll be late for school!”
“Right, and Jim'll ring our necks if we're late again to gym class!” said a brown haired boy named Ulrick to Jeremy's left.
“Yeah, and I don't want to miss breakfast!” Odd said rubbing his growling stomach.
“I'll send you in as soon as I can!” Jeremy told them as he left on the first floor they reached. The doors closed behind him as he reached a computer. “Enter Yumi!” he said as a tall black haired girl stepped into a tall narrow tower. The tower doors closed as she did so. “Scanner Yumi!” he said as the tower scanned Yumi. “Virtualization!” he did the same to Ulrick, Odd, and a pink short haired girl named Aelita.
“Thanks, Jeremy.” said Aelita once they were scanned.
“The tower should be 24 degrees to the left.” Jeremy told them as they headed out. The group ran until Jeremy said, “Looks like Xana is sending you some crabs!” They abruptly stopped and looked around. Sure enough two giant crab looking things were approaching them.
“I'll take the left, Odd can take the right.” Ulrick declared, “Yumi and Aelita, get to the towers fast!” The girls fled imbetween the crabs which started firing lasers at them. Ulrick jumped on top of one and took out a sword. “Impact!” he yelled as he stabbed the crab where it had what looked like an eye on it. Odd jumped over it.
“Laser arrows!” he screamed as three arrows came out of his hands. Both crabs exploded at the same time. Ulrick and Odd then ran towards the tower to see Aelita enter. About five minutes later they were all back in the first floor of the factory, heading back to class as the sun came up.
“That was easy.” said Yumi as the climbed out of the sewers.
“Yeah,” agreed Aelita. “Perhaps too easy.” They walked back towards the school yawning but smiling. Jeremy, Aelita, Odd, and Ulrick left Yumi, who had science that morning, to head for gym. Later that day in science class, Odd and Ulrick were talking in low whispers about who was best at fighting Xana, while Jeremy and Aelita took notes, only to look up when Mrs. Hertz stopped speaking. The second time, they found her speaking in whispers with the principal, Mr. Delmas.
“Class,” Mrs. Hertz began after they'd finished whispering. “Mr. Delmas has important news.” everyone was watching the principal as he stepped forward.
“Thank you Mrs. Hertz,” Mr Delmas began. “Well students we have a new student in the eighth grade, her name is Danielle Parker and I would appreciate it if you gave her a warm welcome.” he stopped speaking as a girl with short light brown hair entered the room. She was wearing a black tee-shirt, blue jeans, jean shoes that looked like they've been torn, and green gloves that only covered half of her fingers. She looked as though she wasn't thrilled to be there, but who would be, it's school!
“There's a seat right next to Sissy, Ms. Parker.” Mrs. Hertz said pointing to a girl with black hair and a yellow band to hold back her bangs, who smiled. Danielle walked, aware that all eyes were on her, to the chair that was empty, and sat down. Mrs. Hertz continued with her lecture.
“Hey,” Sissy whispered to Danielle as science class began again. “I'm...”
“Sissy, yes I know.” Danielle said in an irritated way as she took notes. “Your father told me about you.” she continued to scribble on the paper as Sissy began a way to redeem herself.
“You see that boy over there.” Sissy asked pointing to a boy of average height with brown hair wearing a green jacket over top a light green shirt, with green pants, Danielle nodded.
“Isn't he just the hottest guy you've ever seen?” Sissy exclaimed getting all dreamy and crazy, as Danielle would put it.
“Not really,” Danielle said making Sissy jump, “he just looks like an ordinary guy.” Danielle went back to her notes scribbling everything that was now on the blackboard. After science class they went to lunch, where the meal being served was chicken with white rice, corn, and steamed tomatoes with carrot cake for dessert. Danielle was just getting out of line when she heard the guy in front of her talk, apparently to her.
“Hey, Danielle come sit with us!” it was the blond guy from science class who was wearing a purple jacket over top a pink shirt with purple pants and a purple spot on his hair. Danielle nodded and followed him to his table which once they sat down was full.
“So, Danielle we hear you come from America, is it true?” asked a guy from science whom Sissy called a nerd named Jeremy.
“Yeah,” Danielle said after swallowing her bite of chicken, “and everyone at home calls me Dana.” Jeremy smiled, apparently he was interested in America.
“So whats it like?” he asked looking like he did in science class when Mrs. Hertz stopped talking.
“Oh, well...” Dana began, but she was cut off by Sissy who had just come up to the table.
“Ooh Danielle, you don't want to sit here,” Sissy said in a disgusted voice. “You should come with me, to my table.” Dana looked outraged.
“I'll sit wherever I dang well please, Elizabeth!” she said with a smirk, now Sissy was outraged. “And I won't have you tell me what I do and don't want to do!” she was now standing. Sissy just made a very angry noise and went back to her table. Dana sat back down and began to take apart her chicken. “Anyway,” Dana began again as though nothing had happened. “America's pretty cool, I've only lived in one place, but that place was fun.” she began to describe how her house was about a one mile walk to Kings Island, what Kings Island was, her school, and basically everything else. When she had finished, lunch was over and they were awaiting a restful Saturday afternoon of sitting on campus benches just talking. It stayed this way, until Jeremy noticed an activated tower.
“I'll come with you.” Dana said smiling, they couldn't easily say no but they didn't really want to say yes. They said yes but very reluctantly, informing her that she could say nothing of what she sees to anyone but them. She agrees and they run off.
“I've called Yumi, she's on her way.” Ulrick said and one of Xana's polymorphic specter appeared in front of Dana.
“You go I'll take it on!” she yelled as they began to run again. “Bring it!” she said as the specter took on a form only too familiar to her. A rather tall light brown haired boy wearing a dark blue tee-shirt with khaki pants. Her eyes widened as she realized she had to fight him. Her best friend from home, Tobias. They began to fight but as the fight intensified Dana went limp, something was taking over her body. Suddenly her eyes began to change, her eyes now had circles in them that made a certain sign. She could no longer control herself, a feeling only too familiar to her. Xana made her walk over to the sewer door, made her open, and what's worse made her climb down and walk to wherever it wanted. Dana couldn't stand being in this position, she had to act. But by the time she tried, it was too late, they were in an elevator going down. When the elevator opened they were in a big room, with a big computer and Jeremy sitting at it.
“Dana?!” he said in shock, “how'd you get down here?” he asked, but she couldn't answer, Xana walked over to her new friend Jeremy and began to strangle. “Guys Dana's been Xanafied!” Suddenly Dana let go.
“I'm so sorry Jeremy, I can't control myself!” but as she said it Xana began to control her again. Something that looked like purple lightning came from her hand and was fired at Jeremy. Dana tried once again to control herself, she found it easier after that lightning attack.
“Dana!” Jeremy yelled, getting up, “Xana's inside you!” she looked at him the Xana sign fading from her eyes, but as soon as it did that, she fainted. Xana then fled out of the way. “Guys Dana was Xanafied,” Jeremy said putting his head piece back on.
“What happened?” a virtualized Yumi asked as she fought a Xana Block. “Is she alright?”
“Yeah, it's weird,” Jeremy began, looking at Dana's unconscious body. “It was like she was fight Xana inside herself.”
“How's that possible?” Ulrick asked as he stabbed a Xana crab with his sword.
“Well, normally it's not.” Jeremy explained, “but for someone who's powerful and has already been controlled once before, it possible.” he told them as Dana began to stir. “She's waking up!”
“Tower deactivated Jeremy.” Aelita informed him, “how's Dana?”
“She's awake.” Jeremy said as Dana stood up.
“Okay,” Dana began looking around. “What was that thing inside me? It felt powerful. Jeremy?” she looked at him, her teal eyes boring into his. “Who is this Xana person?”
“Uh, um...” Jeremy began but was cut short by the elevator opening and Yumi, Ulrick, Odd, and Aelita entering the scene.
“Dana!” Odd exclaimed, “how's it going?”
“Who's Xana?” Dana repeated looking a bit affronted, “he just tried to control me, I think I have the right to know!” everyone's eyes met, all wondering the same thing, 'can we trust her?' “You've trusted me with this, why can't you trust me with information on this Xana guy?” She looked determined to find out that they had to tell her.
“We'll tell you later.” Ulrick said, it seemed to work, Dana seemed content with that answer, because she didn't ask again.
