Umm no - it wasn't an animator who left, it was the co-creator, Thomas Romain - Garage Kids as far as I know was animated by Gobelins students temporarily employed by Antefilms - I talked to one of them and apparently it wasn't the happiest of times.

Did they ever draw a proto-Aelita before making Aelita into herself from 2004?
I'd like to know if she was just a character just to get the money or if she was drawn as a sketch from a long time ago.

I believe it was mentioned in Lyoko Decoded that Aelita was a character created exclusively for Code Lyoko, and was not an original part of the GK continuity. (In fact, rumor has it Milly was supposed to act as Jeremie's love interest
).
Anyway though, I believe her character was given to add more balance and believability to the show's premise.
What I mean by this is, which scenario sounds more believable, more plausible:
A group of kids discovering a super computer containing a virtual reality that endangers the world they live in (it has yet to be known if there was a way to shut off the super computer in GK).
Or...
A group of kids discovering a super computer containing a virtual reality and a humanoid AI, and a rogue virus which endangers the world they live in. Fighting to protect their world, they search for a way to materialise the AI, as shutting off the computer, though it means instant death for the virus, would eliminate her as well.
Believe me on this. I am relatively sure that Aelita was added to strengthen the show's story, as well as give the kids a believable moral dilemma and obstruction in their fight against XANA, since they couldn't just shut him off without killing Aelita.

I think it change the seris a bit. Anyway having aeltia on the show makes it sound and look better .It's like when GITS the movie lanched tthen a couple of years later the seris.

Aelita was definately added to stengthen the plot, her character did resemble Milly early on, just look at her original earth outfit. Later on, her personality branched off.
The characters throughout didn't really surprise me because I have some of the GK concept art saved on my hard drive. The younger characters may have been eliminated to give the show some maturity, (otherwise, I probably wouldn't have started watching). The show was darker, but the cast didn't quite fit, so they probably were eliminated first, but the style didn't light up until later.

While the video is nice to watch (oldschool GK characters rule), I fail to see why the thread title needs to be in Caps Lock. The video isn't relevant to the current plot at all.
Unless somehow Moonscoop makes that weird animal make a cameo appearance somewhere in Season 4. I wouldn't mind the animal showing up in Season 4 and getting posessed by Xana.
Off-topic: I found somewhere on the Internet books for children written by Tania Palumbo. Is that the same Tania Palumbo that is involved with Code Lyoko?
