Season 4 Discussion (Final Episodes now Online)

General original series discussion (Seasons 1-4)

Those final episodes were awesome, a perfect way to end the series.

Strangely, though, it seems that no one has the details here, or at least, no one has posted it, yet.

DETAILS (aka SPOILERS):

-Colossus is, as expected, the final battle that takes place on Lyoko.

-William is distrusted by the group, who think XANA may be able to retake him. This is indeed what happens (and boy am I glad! The finale just wouldn't be a finale without one final go against Xana-William.)

-Franz Hopper dies as a sacrafice so that XANA may be destroyed, which happens of course.

-No resoltion to the Yumi/Ulrich/William deal, with scenes strongly supporting either present in the last episode. DOH! :whatever:

-Sissi puts a tracking bug on Ulrich and through this scheme learns the group's secret by reading Jeremy's online diary. Afraid for the safety of the world (and not knowing XANA is already dead), Sissi tells her father, who drags her away to the infirmary for a mental checkup. :*D

-After one final return to the past, the group stops Sissi from starting her plan and invites her to be their friend instead. Sissi joyfully accepts and walks away happily and, in passing by Yumi, tells her "Hey, Girlfriend!". :D

-The supercomputer is shut down. The episode and series ends with this hilarious exchange (paraphrased):

Jim: What were you all doing?
Odd: Oh, just putting an end to a long and great adventure.
Jim: Ah, yes. I put away my teenage dreams too when I became an adult.
Odd: You became an adult, Jim?
Jim: Yeah...but I'd rather not talk about.

:*D :*D :*D

So, that does it. Actors are fired, the animation crew leaves, we all get lives...

Perhaps. There certainly is an opening for S5. All depends on ratings.

My favorite non-humor scene involving her.

Having only seen the first half of episode 95, that's pretty clusterf*ck. To have your final episode going like that is kinda bad... maybe I'm thinking like that since I don't understand french, but the flashbacks kinda kill the episode.

Based on what I read about episode 94 and 95, it should have been a 1-hour episode (the flashbacks taking place before their final time going to Lyoko), because as good as 94 seems to be, 95 looks pretty poor compared to 94.

I don't see a 5th season showing up, and if it happens, it'll kill any credibility that the most recent episode have.

95 seems to be the only episode without virtualizations.

I'm kinda happy and sad that the show's finally over... if it's really over.

If this show's over, I give it's creators a long SALUTE for a job well done!

Everyone! Salute! They have my eternal gratitude. I've made a paper with drawings of the characters to remind me of this show 10 years from now, and so I can show it to my kids. The paper has "In memorium November 10th 2007" written on it.

Wow..I don't know what to say about ep #95.
In one way, I'm actually relived to know this season is the last(maybe), but on the flip side...it just feels so anti-climatic and alot of what I was hoping to be revealed, wasn't.
*Spoilers* Hightlight to see*
The ending seemed more bitter than sweet to me, and very unfair to Aelita. Now that Franz is gone, what family does she have now? Who is going to take care of her once graduation comes? I'd like to think Jeremie might or Yumi's family..but that's wouldn't be too believable. And the fact there's a now abandoned super computer within close range of a school of curious 4th graders? Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.

One thing I think...since the episode seemed a little open ended, and with the title 'Echoes'..there just might be a continuing plot. I'm not asking for a new season, but I would like to have a proper closing even if it was just 2 episodes.

Other than that, I think it ended rather well, with everyone doing the very best. And if this is really, truely the final season, then I agree, the creators deserve a round of applause for giving us such a wonderful show. :)

Well ladies and gents - this kind fellow has made the final episodes availible to us - enjoy :)

SPOILERS:
I would like to take the time to give a special thankyou to Herman and Serge, the composers - during their turn with CL they've been screwed over time and again by the three Moonscoop heads, but they stuck with the show because they loved it - nothing shows this more than episode 94 - the big, final music number 'The Death of XANA', was done by them for free - though their contract had ended they composed a final piece for no money, because they felt the show deserved it - and boy does it show. The same thanks goes to all the production staff - I hope to see all their names on our screens again soon should Season 5 come about, which I pray it will

Don't be such a pessimist Taelia. The supercomputers are still there, so who knows what'll happen.

Taelia, that's enough. If you're going to be all whiney about it, then leave. Come on now, there's nothing to say that we all need to be all mopey. Code Lyoko Is not dead just because the latest season ended in France. You still have the memory of it, and so do other people, and it still lives on in the network. This was just the end to the latest installment of Canon. Now we get into the FANON stuff...

I'm sad. William's back, but Franz is gone.

The series is finally over. Now XANA's gone.

How can we have a 5th season now?

(I have to f-ing retool my fanfic now.)

I was kind of envisioning the series to go out with a big shiny BANG. Quite literally. Like, a big shiny battle of awesome and win in the real world. Apparently not. Where's the BANG? The pizazz? The pulse-pounding love confessions?

But...butbutbut...Franz dies? ...someone died in a children's show? WAAAAAAAAA okay.

...okay, I'm a bit of a maniac. It just didn't live up to my brain fantasy. Brain fantasies are not good things to set standards by.

Still, it seemed to go out well. If they do plan to make a Season 5, I say they should go ahead with it. Just write it WELL, please.

But, I have found one PULSE POUNDING REVELATION-

I really don't want a 5th season. The ending is decent enough to end the whole series. I didn't like Season 3 and 4 that much (4 was an okay season, not that bad like S3)... I had to force myself at times to watch Code Lyoko, thing that didn't happened with the first two seasons. As the last two season went on, to some people it was great, to me it just wasn't great anymore. I just kept watching the show just to see how it ends. And if at 4 seasons it's over, let it die there. I'm tired of watching the show getting b*stardized like in S3 and S4.

Blame some of the new recruits that they hired to the writing staff. I enjoyed five well-written episodes out of the thirty that have aired.

Hmm, the Season 4 ending closed the plot enough to conclude the series, but it's still open enough that it could be continued with a new cast. That doesn't mean the old cast won't return, though, but it's fairly obvious that they at least wouldn't return right away.

Anyway, I personally found this season to be pretty good, but admittedly, it couldn't top Season 2. I do find it better than both Seasons 1 and 3, though. Quite frankly, Season 1 didn't get me interesting until Code: Earth. That's when the real plot development began. Season 2 was the best, while Season 3 wasn't too bad. It at least had more plot development than Season 3, and had a nice ending.

I will admit, though, that the ending of Season 4 (and perhaps the series) does seem a bit lackluster. However, I haven't actually seen the episode, yet, let alone in a language I can understand, so my opinions could easily change when I actually watch it. This has happened to me, before, and it can happen again.

Personally, if they do bring out a Season 5, which is possible, I think that the original cast should basically be dropped to minor characters (like ordinary students just with more appearances), but will come back later on as more major characters as the series progresses. Just don't outstretch it too much.
