What's your favorite webcomic?

Postby Tangent128 » Sun Mar 16, 2008 4:16 pm

I'm not going to bother with a poll, since there are just too many to choose from. I alone read maybe 20...

Anyways, my favorite is Girl Genius. Basically, a steampunk romantic dramatic comedy. (Be warned, the plot, like the art, is very intricate. Reading the archives is very much recommended.)

Gunnerkrigg Court is a close second.

I also liked Kid Radd, but I only found it after it ended.
(yeah, the cool links in my old sig died. :( A few nerdy newish projects are here. )

One word: xkcd

One that I like (that ended three years ago) is Halo: Resolution.

For me, it's a tie between Megatokyo, which I don't really read regularly anymore, and Cyanide and Happiness, which you all need to read NOW.

The Web comic I've been reading for a while now is Ctrl-Alt-Del Its an awesome comic about two gamers going through life. Tons more interesting then you think. Starts out as random one page arcs, but quickly develops an overall plot, that contains several arcs that can last several pages. Its pretty funny. Just check it out.

I like the Scary-Go-Round, especially the Captain Beefheart tribute that stretched out many pages and days (for a week). "It so f-ing cold here."

ROFL.

Ah, Bob and George. Such a classic. And funny history- it started as filler, then graduated to the full-time comic once the author decided he couldn't draw. And then every storyline had the purpose of patching the previous stories' plot holes.
Such a ride...

XKCD's good, too.

May as well give a mostly-complete list of what I read, sorta-categorized: (I'll bold ones I really like)
Games:
ADVENTURERS!
AWKWARD ZOMBIE
8-Bit Theatre
Order of the Stick
Erfworld
Darths & Droids
Kid Radd
The Noob

Dramatic Comedy:
Antihero for Hire (by the author of ADVENTURERES!)
Nowhere University
PS-238
Fox Tails
Girl Genius
Gunnerkrigg Court

Episodic:
XKCD
Ozy & Millie
Dandy & Company
Dinosaur Comics
Does I Can Has Cheezburger? count? ;)

HELL TO THE YES, BNG.

Sluggy Freelance Is one of my favorites, 'cause it combines great plot, explosions, highly incompetant people, and a tiny bunny who tries (and succeeds) to kill Santa Claus.

I also like Kevin and Kell, or, well, I used to before it got repetitive.

Another good one is Evil Inc., VG Cats, and Eight-Bit Theatre. Oh, by the way, guess which webcomic that Eight-Bit theatre was inspired by? To see the answer, look at CB's post!

This will be a mostly unpopular choice, but I favor VG Cats.

Don't see what's so unpopular about it. It's pretty cool.... bit of a downturn in recent years, but allright.

Oh, check out Mezzacotta...

It's a randomly-generated webcomic created by the Comic Irregulars. So it has archives going back before the universe existed.

Most of which don't make sense, but it probably tries to learn from the ratings each one is given.

Also, anybody read Darths and Droids?

What a webcomic thread with this many recommendations and no Dr. McNinja.

Seriously, this comic is utterly hilarious, great writing and have really great action scenes. It's the love child of "The Rule of Cool" and "The Rule of Funny."

For anybody who has played metal gear solid 3 and likes the cobra unit. its on a bit of a hiatus right now but it is still as funny as heck.

http://www.thecobradays.net/

There is also the last days of foxhound, now complete, it is also very funny

http://gigaville.com/comic.php?id=1

There is some very mature language in both of these, so if thats something that bothers you, you might not like these.
