Surely we have enough nerds here to discuss the intricacies of monospaced vs proportional, vector vs bitmap, screen vs print fonts... any preferences?

I personally like working with monospaced fonts, simply because it's easier to get phrases lined up with images. However, I admit proportional fonts look better, unless you're creating an ASCII art site. (Which would be cool...)

(And before anyone asks, the Code Lyoko font is "Gunship")
(yeah, the cool links in my old sig died. :( A few nerdy newish projects are here. )

Coincidence or Massive Skidbladnir Foreshadowing?

Speaking of fonts, I want the one the Death Note rules are written/printed in. Just bought the first few DVDs and one of the commentary episodes suggested it'd be awesome for business cards. :)
My SN is spelled Feld, not Field. Keep getting it right, Carth.
I has opinions. On things.

That it would... I couldn't find one, alas.

Monospaced are easier for me as well, and I prefer vector over bitmap in that it's easier to edit them to fit your needs. And while screen fonts are better in just about every way, sometimes you're forced to use a print font. D:

Maybe I should post a list of my favorite fonts... =D

Personally, I like monospaced sans-serif fonts; however, for most purposes my favorite font would be Verdana. Trebuchet MS and Myriad Web Pro follow close behind.
thank you all for the good memories <3

And there you have it. Obviously, this is a screenshot from Microsoft Word. What is the font that Lyoko Freak uses?

Postwise, i think it's Arial. It looks like Arial, anyway.

I like "Impact", too- it makes everything you type look awesome and meme-y. "Achilles" is also one of my favorites- I need to redownload it.

Yes, Impact's a good all-purpose font, except for blocks of text.

I like sans-serif fonts, and other fonts with simple, elegant shapes.

(Hmm... I need to figure out how to make my own font...

Seems Opera supports SVG Fonts, though not in HTML.)

I love Times New Romans, Bauhaus 93, Snap ITC, Comic Sans, and Arial.

Enough said.

That'd be a good feature for Inkscape, mate. :3 I'm sure there are some free SVG to TTF converters somewhere out on the Interwebs, I dunno.

How do you use the font Gunship if you download it from the internet?

On Windows, drag the .ttf file into your fonts folder, then pick it from a font menu in your application.

There seem to be lots of TTF to SVG converters, but I can't find any reverse ones. So if I made a font, it'd only be usable in SVG images at the moment. (I trust you've read that part of the spec?)

Did you open Word before or after putting the file in?

Yeah, I eat those manuals up like cheesecake. :3 But there seriously aren't any SVG to TTF's out there? Really odd... Hmph.

You learned XSLT yet? Kinda mind-bending at first, but it makes for super advanced stylesheets- can CSS add a header, footer, and sidebar? ;)

Back on topic, I guess the whole SVG-to-TTF lack-of-ness is due to SVG's still-not-mainstream-ness and TTF's sparser shape options and patent issues.

SVG is mainstream, in my opinion. IE users are just missing out. :P
