This was actually mentioned somewhere in Season 4. Odd announces he has a date, then Ulrich retorts about taking her to an action movie like he always does. But he says he will be taking her to a romance film instead.

So there you have it, he tells the girls to the movie theater to see action movies. Not really a romantic atmosphere, then again considering Odd...

Considering he is a natural player, he knows he is going to break up with them eventually. Besides, how much money does a middle school sent abroad make? Only want his parents give him, so he has to spread out his finances including materials needed for all his hobbies( skateboarding, artistry, etc.) plus the occasional ordering out.
