America's Got Talent

Does anyone here watch this show? It's on NBC, and it's basically a televised talent show. It's like American Idol except there are also dancers and magicians and sword swallowers and Brittney Spears impersonators and 80 year old tapdancers and flaming baton twirlers and all kinds of other things.

I've watched every season, and I'm curious how many other people here also watch it. I also find it ironic that it's America's Got Talent and two of the judges are British. Well... is Sharon Osbourne British or American? The other British judge is Piers Morgan. Oh, and there's David Hasselhoff, too.

Sharon Osbourne is British.

And I don't watch it. It's just a quest for 15 minutes of fame.

I agree. It's nothing but an American Idol ripoff.

Not really. Simon Cowell is the producer of both shows, so it may be similiar. A lot of shows these days follow the do-something-for-three-judges-and-you-might-win-something format. I prefer this show over American Idol because it's not only singing, it's all kinds of things.

Maybe, but the winner of the previous season has a 5-year, $100 Million contract in Las Vegas. That's one of the biggest deals in entertainment history, and it makes him the most successful* winner of any reality TV show ever.

*that is, if you measure success with money, and unfortunately, a lot of people do. But that is a philosophical discussion for another thread.
