A Day to Remember

Postby Sciron » Thu Sep 11, 2008 3:50 pm

On this day seven years ago, the two twin towers of the World Trade in New York were destroyed by two hijacked planes. The third hijacked plane hit the Pentagon, but the fourth was managed to be diverted from its target, the US Captiol, and crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Please, a moment of silence for all that have passed because of this tragedy.

Our country has come a long way since then, but we still have a long way to go.

It's unbelievable how many websites are dedicated to conspiracy theories. At one point, I heard that there were 2 million sites...not sure if that was true or not. But when I was at Yellowstone this past summer, my cousin and I found two fake dollar bills that supported theories on how Bush and Cheney were behind 9/11.

It's just sad that people can think that this attack was planned by people inside our own government. Hasn't our country suffered enough from the attack itself?

It really is sad...
I remember that fateful day, back when I was in the second grade...
I was coming home, feeling joyous and gay (in the old sense of the word, not the new one) and I noticed as we drove past the Long Island City train yard there was a plume of black smoke rising up from lower Manhattan. I thought someone had set up a cloud factory, being young and naïve. It wasn't until about a month later when I was hit by the full realization of the tragedy.
Those heartless thieves did this: :2guns: to our society, and now, those people are :angel2: up in heaven, except for those hijackers. Those people are truly evil. :devil2:
We ;__; for them.

I like these emoticons! :D
I really gotta fix up this theme

I was in fourth grade. I remember the teacher leaving for a few minutes and then she came in and said, rather bluntly, "Somebody bombed the World Trade Towers." In those exact words. I didn't even know what the World Trade Center was. They locked down the school and the teacher turned on CNN. I guess classes must have been canceled because I don't remember doing anything else that day except for watching the news.

I knew that it was a horrible tragedy, but it didn't really dawn on me until later that someone had attacked the United States. That someone had purposely caused destruction, chaos and death in our country because of a holy war.

In economics class the teacher talked about it, about how the WTC was a target because of it's symbolism of America's economic might. And then we watched a movie about how the towers were attacked before in 1993 and the terrorists' plot to finish the job. There were memorial assemblies at school but my class couldn't go because the teacher forgot to sign the class up the day before.

I'm not a New Yorker, nor did I have any family or friends in the World Trade Center, but as a French newspaper put it (in French), "We are all Americans." All of us, no matter what state we are from, can remember and honor the innocent lives lost.

I was in 4th grade (somewhere close to that), and i didn't figure it out till i got home. I do remember a weird moment of silence, since i didn't know about this, it was very random to me. Then i came home and cnn was on. That's when i found out.
