FORKS, Wash. — A new restaurant set to open next year in Washington state will be called Volterra after a city in the popular Twilight vampire novels, which are set in the town of Forks.
Owners Annette and Tim Root told The Peninsula Daily News it will be a family restaurant, and they have applied for a liquor license.
Forks already has the Twilight Lounge that features concerts and other events for fans.
The Twilight books and movies have brought vampire tourism to the remote former logging town on Washington's Olympic Peninsula.
The Chamber of Commerce says thousands of visitors come asking questions, such as whether it's safe to go camping with the vampire problems in the area.

...Liquor license? For a restaurant based off of a book series with a fanbase of mostly pre-teens?

The last sentence made my faith in humanity lose 10 more points.

I live near Forks, in fact, my school competes against Forks High School and stuff.

We're so mean to them, always screaming "KICK THOSE SPARKLY [INSERT DIRTY WORD] [INSERT DIRTY WORD]-ES!"

Aaah, good times.

But hey, people can make money, and Forks is one tiny town, it needs to make some money. It's part of human insanity to take something and milk it dry. : /

Maybe Edward will randomly pop up one day... I wonder if there're "Cullens" at Forks High...

It got too far when fangirls started assaulting people for saying they just didn't care for it. I've heard stories of people being attacked by baseball bats, acid, etc. over not liking it.

I REALLY hope the fad dies off soon.

And there's apparently an anime planned. How the Japanese could not have been sickened by it is beyond me.

God, they're that crazy? Wow... this is out of hand... That sort of makes me sick, love your fandom, but damn, don't hurt others for not likin' it.

[/faith in human race]

I knew Twilight was going to get its chance in the Japanese limelight, either in the form of a manga or an anime...

Psh, as if Vampire Knight wasn't Twilight-esque enough...

Maybe I can't understand it because I'm a guy, but why is it that vampire stories like Twilight became so popular? I'm not trying to put down Stephanie Meyer, but seriously. It's a BOOK. A FREAKIN BOOK.
I really gotta fix up this theme

I was talking about the article about the restaurant, the thing with people asking if it's safe to camp because of "vampires". My bad.

Going to an single-sex school you should know one thing--chicks are crazy. Sappy romance, "sexy" vampires and... drama that's more predictable than Elton John's sexuality is what give chicks their kicks.

And sparkles! Let's not forget the sparkles.

I read Twilight and admit I did read it all in one sitting, but I tried to get into New Moon and superfailed, same goes for all the other ones. It might be because I tend to fail at being your average slab of chick ("BEEEEEWWWWWBBBBBBBZZZZZ. >:D!") but Twilight isn't as bright and shiny as people are making it.

The fad might die, whenever the hell pre-teens cease to exist.

Hey! I still have faith in humanity! It requires yelling at humanity to get them to shapen up... but the meager chance of hope still exists!

Or I might just be insane. To be completely serious, I probably am.

But, fun-fact... I'm from the school on the news where the police had to be called because someone claimed they were a vampire and someone else claimed to be a werewolf... and there was a fight... and rumors that someone bit someone... and the principal told us not to talk about it...
______________________________________________
To vent my fury of twilightism...

I personally think I would have enjoyed twilight... but I CANNOT bring myself to read it amongst this stupidness...

I got the book for last christmas... I have never opened it. I use it to kill bugs in my house.
__________

At the bookstore...

Well... I love books. I wholeheartedly admire them. The only thing I like better then a good book are a few, very few select TV shows (*cough*CodeLyokoandanythingonUSA*cough*)

Today, I was there buying for my own enjoyment... wishing the CL novels were there.

At the same time though... I had to get a book for my English class... so I headed over to the teen section.

It made my cry.

The whole thing was a Twilight-Fest! NINE OUT OF TEN BOOKS was a vampire book, cult-supernatural (supernatural things are awesome... but when you claim to be a werewolf... you're crazy), or trashy romance.

In front of the Teen bookcases was an altar to evil itself... a whole table... and more... PILED with Twilight fandom. It made me want to scream.. and I did vent my anger while searching for books.

When I finally shifted through all the idiocratic vampire novels and mushy romances in the Teen section... I FINALLY came across a classic book, which would fit the theme of the novel I needed, love, nicely. It was "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte.

Then I noticed something... it made my cry.

On the cover, in the corner were the words "Bella and Edwards favorite book."

I almost didn't buy it... I searched EVERYWHERE for the same book with a different cover... but alas I could not find it... so I ultimately had to give into buying that heineous copy instead of deal with stupid romances...

I still plan on cutting off the Twilight reference, though.
