Yikes...I hope this mini-series isn't just thrown together and full of plot holes. Bryke always took such care with their storylines and this...just seems like they're tossing a series together out of ideas drawn out of a hat.

Or is there a legal obligation as to why they can't have any previous characters from the first series show up? Some sort of copyright issue because of Nickelodeon or the Shymalan movie?

And yeah...here's hoping the casting director either just...doesn't know or is saying what he's been told to say because they don't want to reveal the fact that some of the older characters are in it still just yet.

I'm pretty excited for all of this to go down, I hope they can keep to the general style of ATLA, even if this is a new series.

I'd also like them to wrap up a few fan issues, like the timeline (as Mew was talking about) and who got paired up with who, officially.

Well it looks like they are keeping the general style of ATLA, though modernized a bit, according to the teaser picture they put out. And the canon couples are looking to be exactly as they were at the end of the original series. There was an interview with Bryke where they said that Tenzin was Aang and Katara's kid and that they didn't mean for his parentage to be a big secret.

As for the timeline and the thing about all the old Gaang being dead, I'm just hoping that was a lie. Or something like what happened with the second season of Kuroshitsuji.

Well, I never said that. But seeing them alive (and then dying later, dying before the series wtihout a word seems a little anti-climactic for the saviors of the world) would be nice, either way.

This is like, 75 or so years after the first series. Why do you want to see Katara on Water Tribe life support, exactly?

Katara would only be 89 by that calculation. And Toph would be younger than that. 89 is old, but it's not /super/ old, and considering that Katara's grandmother seemed long-lived, I don't see why she wouldn't be able to either.

And let's not even go into King Bumi and how old he is. The point is, within Avatar canon, it's not unusual for people to live long even if the technology is "simplistic". And even so, seeing as how progress has been made technology-wise in the Avatar-verse when Korra is set, that makes me think it's even less a stretch that people would live longer than before. ...The lack of a crippling invasion/war by a certain nation can't hurt either.


Personally, I'm also hoping that the "everyone's dead" thing was just a mis-statement if not an outright lie. I'd understand Aang dying young because of all the stress his body went through, and maybe even some of the older cast like Sokka or Zuko (although I could see Iroh becoming the next Bumi >_>; ) But everyone from the first series without exception? No way. Because that's going on my list of "Discontinuity/Implausiblilty" for this series right away otherwise.
