Books 1-5 were good, untill they went all "edgy emo".

I mainly see the movies which reminds me the 4th one comes out friday 18th Nov, I'm gonna see it with a friend...i rarely read the books. But yeah i have all 3 the games so far includin the quidditch world cup.

I'm a book fan myself, though I do watch the movies. I own the second game, though I never beat it. I can't wait for the 7th book though ^_^

Only read the 3rd book (in spanish)... played the first 2 games on PS1 and PS2, and played the first game and the Quidditch one on GBA... loved the movies... too bad Harry and Cho will kiss on the 5th movie instead of the 4th.

I've got all the books, attending the launch of book 5 and 6 in my local bookshop. 15th(ish) person in Carmarthen town the get it! I got the two Comic Relief specials, Chamber of Secrets Prisoner of Azkaban, world cup on PS2 and Philosopher’s stone on PS1. Traded all the PS2 in for some money. And I've seen all the films in the cinema twice. Against King Kong, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, Goblet of Fire looks likes its going to be the best film this winter.
Last week, I was doing work experience in a local cinema, and I got to watch the trailers...10 times! God, it is going to blow the other films out of the water!
With a $350 million budget, it will be good. On www.imdb.com, the average opinion of 586 people is 8.4 out of 10.

I've just come back from seeing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and I give it two thumbs up! 9.5/10!

I won't spoil much but the direction is visceral and dynamic, the effects are draw-dropping, the plot is wound tighter than a clockspring and the performances are superb.

Special credit for the quality of their acting must go to Emma Watson, Chris Tennant, Brendan Gleesom and Ralph Fiennes.

I must also comment on how rounded the supporting characters are becoming, particularly Ginny, Neville, Fred & George and Cedric - aside from that, you'll have to see the flm to see just why I loved it!

PS: Team Lyoko has been to see this twice in one DAY!

I'm going to see it soon but this question has been driving me nuts...how convincing does Voldemort look, and is he as evil in the movie as he is in the books? What was your opinion on Voldemort's portrayal by Robert Fiennes?

I'd read it, but I suppose you don't necessarily have to. Chances are the movie hasn't cut out the "really" important things that show up in later books. But I read that this movie cut out alot of scenes, that, while they aren't important, give the book alot more dimension. Hermione's S.P.E.W campaign, for one...

Well, I've heard Harry and Cho Chang (or Chan?) were going to lock lips, but the producers delayed that scene for the 5th movie, when Sirius Black dies.

When I saw the third movie (reading the book previously), I thought it was not that d*amn good, but it was good. I really wanted to see Alan Rickman doing the parts of Snape when he encounters Lupin and Sirius, especially when he was very angry, I wanted to see that!! Snape seemed very gay, compared to what I've read in the 3rd book. He deserved better scenes in the 3rd movie.

To Rodri - yes I would recommend reading the book beforehand but it's not entirely necesary. As you probably saw with Prisoner of Azkaban the film had to cut a lot of material and often left plot-holes which might confuse those who have not read the book.

The fourth film takes this principle to uber-levels, since you're going to see it soon I would either recommend a crash-read, or watch the film first and then read the book IF you feel confused.

Well, this time I might buy the 4th book in English!! Btw, what were the names of the editorial companies for HP in the US and in the UK? I guess they sell the US version in Peru, when I saw the 6th book (didn't bought it)... I'm more a fan of the HP movies than the books, but the Prisioner of Azkaban gave me another twist to love HP, besides killing time for my grand-grandfather's funeral (last year, before July ended). I enjoyed that book...

Hope I havn't spoiled too much (if I have I'll edit this post), and wish both of you a good time at the cinema! (and everyone else of course )

Dude, it's ok... before I saw Attack of The Clones, a kid from my ex-school's band told me 1/3 of the movie, but either way it's not the same thing telling me a movie to when I watch it. I know spoiling movies is wrong, I made a teacher from my ex-school got a bit mad at me just for saying that Gandalf didn't died on the first LOTR movie.

Btw, off-topic, but watch Donnie Darko. It's an awesome movie!!

Out of curiousity what language will you see the movie in?

English!! No f***ing way I'm watching it on spanish... anyways, only the first movie arrived to the peruvian cinemas in Spanish (those who brought it can rot in h*ll... alter, I watched it in English on HBO), then the others came in both languages. The English one including always subtitles on it.

I like both but I prefer the books. The movies are good, but there is something about the books I like more.

But Goblet of Fire is wonderfully done. Not what I expected, but brilliant. The rebirth of Voldemort, the world cup, the arrive of Krum's school at Hogwarts, when Harry returns with Cedric's body (VERY emotional) and Patrick's Doyle's soundtrack TOTALY kicks John Williams out of the frame!
And despite other events on a local and national level, my local cinema was packed with people from many age groups!
I was so desperate to see it. I ran to the 4pm showing the second school ended. And saw it again at 8.15pm,

He is superbly evil...he also does not delve too much into cliched XANA-Hopper dialogue - trust me when I say you'll love to hate him.

Aww...no "gloating"? He does sort of monologue a tad in the book, to Harry, about how he came to power again...these villains and their evil tirades...if XANA and Voldemort aren't immune to it, who is?

That's good to hear that Fiennes portrays Voldemort well. I'm disappointed to hear that they did not ask John Williams to do the soundtrack again. I like the music as much as the movies...and I'm a fan of John William's work, so this is slightly saddening. T.T But that is good to hear that they really tried to make this movie convincing and true to the book. I'm sure that was no easy "task".

For me it really depends. The first book was better than the movie, but the second and third movies were better than the books. Want to see the fifth. It looks so interesting!

John Williams isn't doing the soundtrack for the 4th movie? That's a pity. But I hope the 4th movie will be good.
