Character Study: Retelling ACCs

Here are the essays I wrote for my original characters. They're worth a look at but only readers of the Retelling Series would fully understand them.

------------

Name: Dirk Kap Hwan
Age: 13
Identifiable Color: Black
Hobbies: Reading Chinese Literature
Personality on Earth: Cold and Calculating
Interesting Fact: Last name taken from a King of Fighters character named Kim Kap Hwan
Fighting Style: Devastating Blows

The polar opposite of Clayton, Dirk is far less impulsive and violent as his enforcer but just as imposing and a lot more popular with the readers and cherished as a fan favorite. Out of the three original characters introduced into the Retelling Series, Dirk is the least likely of them to appear in the actual series. Dirk defies the norms of Code Lyoko; his personality; demeanor; manner of thought and even wardrobe all would not be seen in the likes of Kadic Junior High.

Where people can connect with the simplicity of Clayton, they are mystified but Dirk’s involvement in the Retelling Series. When he was first introduced, he appeared to be a know-nothing bully who would only be around for a few laughs but through the episodes his character has grown into far more. Dirk is by far the most complex character of the Retelling Series. His acts of cunning and his way deceiving people has impressed those around him. He never limits himself into when handling a particular situation and relies of trickery, blackmail, interrogation and of course brute force to come out on top but unlike most antagonist, Dirk never relishes in his victory and acts in an indifferent manner. Everyone loves a good bad guy and Dirk fits this bill perfectly.

However, the true depth in the Korean boy’s character is the slight shred of humanity and goodness that he still has in him. Senseless violence does not appeal to him and Dirk always picks and chooses his battles. It is only when push comes to shove or when he himself is insulted will any action be taken. Of course there were a few fights he was involved in that were not provoked and his rational will be exposed later. Strangely, Dirk and Clayton have found themselves on the same side as the Lyoko group as many times they oppose them. Logbook was the first episode where Dirk was helpful both telling Ulrich about Sissi’s plan and risking his life to break the bus’s window open not to mention saving Jim from falling outside. As the Retelling Series progresses, people often ask themselves the question “Is Dirk really a bad guy?â€

Legally, those aren't CL characthers. But shouldn't this go here?
