Magetank VS Shield!

Postby Lyokofreak » Mon Nov 28, 2005 7:09 pm

Something that boggles my mind is... Can odd's shield could hold off a megatank's blast? :umm: I mean since odd's shield holds off a toranchula's attack maybe it has a chance with the megatank blast. ;)
Someone answer asap plz!

Please do not spam. -___-;

And I doubt it. It can probably hold up to so many life points.

I think its possible. Most times when he's killed off using his shield, his enemies aim for specific parts of his bodies thats not shielded, causing him to drop the shield, before being hit in the chest. This makes his shield fairly ineffective since it has small coverage and for the most part is very immobile, and it takes away Odd's greatest advantage in terms of defense, his cat-like reflexes. But unlike lasers from other monsters, a megatanks blast can not aim for a specific part of his body. Its just a big blasting plane. So if Odd can catch the blast with his shield before it hits any other part of his body, than its all a matter of how long can he hold his ground and how long he can hold his concentration to keep the shield up.

Are they really sneakers? I always thought they were boot-ish type things... well, maybe not boots. But uh.. like Timberlands...? (weak example lol) Erm.. do they have traction in Lyoko?

Well, to have traction, there has to be friction, or atleast a simulation of it. And as shown, there is friction, and lack of, by the fact that they can slip, they can climb, they can slide to a halt. So yeah, theres friction, and thus traction.

Ok, what you said about Odd having boots, to tell you the truth they really do resemble Timberlands, but they are in fact shoes.

Besides, Ulrich can do it; assuming that his shield is strong enough, Odd definitely can too. It's how effective he can be that's the question. (Didn't I just post something like that? Oh well. At least I won't post "wow". Wow. Wow. I mean... :p)

Uh.. Ulrich doesn't have a shield... :umm: Oh! You meant Odd's shield.

Actually, I think his shield was just a ploy thrown in by the writers at the last minute to give him SOME defense trick.

Agreed. It is kinda useless. Especially because nobody will ever actually portray Odd doing the anti-megatank.

Actually, the shield is good and necessary like when Odd was on a small platform and a Tarantula was against him. He would've been shot to heck without it. Nowhere to jump

So? The monsters can just shoot under the shield.

As explained by my life point theory, it's WHERE you shoot as well, and the Tarantula didn't shoot around the shield. Odd activates it at the last second, then he made his move.

Comex, since when have you been here??

Actually yes, they can aim, why Ulrich's sa\word would hold up a whole megatank blast, since a plane goes on infinetly in all directions, he should still be able to be hit ...uuuuhhh.... you know where

In Temptation, Odd was killed when after Aelita created her ice bridge, he was admiring her work, when the Tarantula shot at him during his moment of inattention, so it really was not due to ineffectiveness of the shield that cost him the episode, it was his short attention span.

And the physics of the megatank blast means it must maintain its shape and proportions. So blocking it partially will block it completely. Worked with Odd in Big Bug, Ulrich in Code Earth and Contact, and the megatank, again in Contact. So if Odd ever did block with his shield, it should in theory, work.

lets look at the situation first hand, shall we:

megatank: *fires a laser blast*

odd: Shie..........*silence*

nuff said. no way the shield could hold that much power, after all, its very weak.

I think his shield could hold out. Just wish it wasn't so tiny. Like it could cover his whole front part of his body. ^^

WE still haven't seen any of his visions yet... Are they going to make him a new power or something?

I think the sheild IS his new ability - I mean he's used it a lot more than his precognative skills in Season 1, and it's usefullness is a given.

True, but the shield shouldn't be his NEW power. The only reason is... Yumi has Fans to block, Ulrich a sword, so Odd needs something right? So they give him a shield, so now its fair. He just needs a special power now.

A megatank blast would destroy his Laser Arrow no prob. Ah well, we'll have to ask the VA's or something. Unless the Creators come. :)

Anyway, I think that Megatank will beat Odd. From what we've seen, logically Odd would be able to hold it off, but it doesn't make visual sense and the writers wouldn't do something like that.

In a way, I agree with both sides on this. It has been proven possible to hold off a Megatank's blast, though not for any extended period of time. Using Ulrich as an example, eventually he can no longer summon the strength to hold off the blast any longer, whoch is why it give out. Basing my theory off that, I would assume that yes, Odd could block a blast, for a time at least, until he himself could no longer sustain the shield.
