Random Story Arcs

Some will remember a month ago tomorrow when SamBlob’s hotel thread got locked (all because of myself, YDV and TB3. Still feel guilty). By the time it got locked, us, the unholy trinity had gone completely off topic, with posts turning in bids to save or destroy democracy in YDV’s country from NationStates.net. I just read though those later posts and found myself laughing my head off. We were whacked. Check out the last 2 or 3 pages on that thread. (Page 2 of the games section)

This (I’m hoping) is to recreate those posts. Someone starts a random story arc, and then other members add parts to the story line.
e.g. YDV blows up a building. TB3 forces him to rebuild it. YDV escape to his jet. Finds TL has placed a wheel clamp on it.

Hope this catches on!

Prince YD is in the Grande TV room, watching Code: Lyoko.

Annoucner Guy: We, the Evil Overlords of CN-- I mean, um, Cartoon Network's scheduling people, have decided to postpone "Revelation" and "The Key" ANOTHER three weeks. Happy Holidays! *cut commercial*

YD: What?! No!! They can't do this to us! -AGAIN-!

He gets up and storms out of the TV room, presumably to go find his "babysitter squad" aka his secretaries and personal assistants (theyy're backkk! lol)

Personal Assistant 1: You can't be serious.

YD: I'm DEAD serious! *points threateningly to Royal Portable Guillotine*

Secretary 2: But... we don't want to go on an adventure to Cartoon Network's headquarters...

YD: Do you want to keep your job? Or, better yet, your head?

Secretary 2: Erm.. yes, sire.

Technically, it looks like RPG. You guys know RPG isn't allowed, but it's starting to take the shape of how SamBlob's hotel thread ended.

It's not an RPG. It's an additive story, where everyone gets to make up parts. Just like other threads that've been around.

YD: Ahem. Personal Assistant 2.

PA2: You are to refer to the Prince as Your Highness, Your Sirness, Sire, or.. Sir.

V: But.. I DID call him sir! Er, sir.

YD: I know! I just like hearing underlings say that. Now, we're supposed to meet up with some other people in the Royal Air Force base before we take off.

V: Royal Air Force base...?

YD: *sweatdrops* Did you even pass the citizenship exam?

PA1: Um, sire, he's not a citizen of New Lyoko.

YD: ..Oh. Um. Uhh, well then, let's go! ^-^;

my LJ friends do this sometimes with fanfic. we call it 'Round Robin'. Technically, it's not RPG, but at the same time, perhaps it would be best to avoid confusion by writing in a narrative style and making sure to only use those who have voluntarily placed themselves into the story by participating in the writing of it.

so instead of using a script style of writing, eg:

V: hi!
YDV: *offers a cup of tea*

you could instead say something like:

VChat said, "hi!"
YDV responded wordlessly, opting instead to pour some tea into a cup and extend an arm in VChat's direction.

This is just so there is no confusion whatsoever on whether this is an RPG or not.

That's a good idea. Although.. I was kind of leaving it open so anyone could join if they wanted to (the basic plot is that we all go to the CN headquarters and protest/shove New Lyoko's missles up their.. uh.. face! )

Thank you for locking this, Rodri, and I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner.

RPGs are not allowed in any shape or form, guys. The only reason why I let the hotel threads live is because they were around before we started enforcing the RPG rule.

That's not really why I'm glad this was locked, though. The reason the old thread was locked was because it was only being posted on by like... 3 people, plus it was becoming.. weird... o__O and it was basically just spam... So, by making this thread, you're basically just re-creating the hotel thread even though it was locked for a reason.

So, that's why... Sorry to ruin the fun.
