FFN Upgrades

I dunno why I didn't think of this before, but here's a thread to track new updates to the FFN infrastructure.

11/21/05: MAJOR UPDATE - Private Messaging
A new private messaging system was installed. You can reply to a review with it (click reply next to the review in question), or you can send a new message (select author to PM). The downside to this is that you can't reply to reviews in your chapters anymore - and there are reports of stories being deleted for containing review replies from after the feature implementation.

12/15/05: MAJOR UPDATE - Forums
A new forum infrastructure was installed. Each user can have up to five forums, which are attached to his/her profile. They are automatically the admin of said forums. Only basic support is available, but thread/forum subscription and RSS feeds are on the way. Markup includes quote, story link, author link, and C2 link.

Bit late, but...

12/16/05 - Minor update - Forums
Each user may now have ten forums. You can tie your forums to a particular section, and all your forums are linked from your profile.

12/24/05 - Announcement and minor upgrade
FFN will switch into read-only for the entire day on the 30th for maintenance.
An error where your bio was displayed wrong was fixed.
A new version of OpenOffice was released (2.0.1), so you ought to upgrade.

12/30/05 - Maintenance completed
FFN is now in normal mode once again. Several hundred "internal" improvements were made to the site.
